Default Speakers with optical digital in

Well not keeping up with what's doing with computer speakers for a fair while, it seems from a brief perusal here that all the manufacturers have released some new speakers in the last little while.

What I want to know is whether any of these new speakers will take an optical signal, and preferably if any of them are on the right side of $500.

Yeah, I know I could do the rounds of the sites but I'm sure a few of you know the answer to this off the top of your heads.

Thanks.

Logitech's Z-680's take analogue, optical, & coaxial inputs. They're available for around $450 or so if you shop around.

Klipsch's high-end 5.1 set has the ability as well, but a) hard to find and b) you'll damn well pay for it.. close to the grand mark.

Not sure which others have the ability.. the z-680's get a lot of negative feedback but based on 8 months of experience in owning a set myself? they are truely awesome value for money, and i simply cannot flaw them. To each their own I suppose.

Thanks GSX-R. Those speakers have been around for a fair while though. So does that mean none of the newies do optical?

I bought these the other day

http://dseau.resultspage.com/search....6e8&method=and

1x Optical and 2x COAX aswell as 3 line inputs with remote.

The sound is decent and it's more powerful than the logitech z640s.

DTS, Dolby Digital and most importantly DPLII.

Sorry FlameHead your link doesn't work. They're sounding good so far though.

[Edit] Ah just searched up that you got a Voxson thing. $250 is pretty good. I'll just have to see if I can search up some specs.

[Edit 2] Wow their Australian? That's got to be worth something.

2 weeks ago the voxson 5.1 digital home theatre system was on special for $150. I wasn't aware of it at the time but it's just a heads up that it may occur again in future.

DSE have a 14 day money back guarantee so maybe if it goes down in the next 2 weeks you could just take it back and pick it up again cheaper.

If you can wait longer all the better but there is obviously no guarantee they will ever put the price back down again. Either way I feel that $250 is a great deal anyway.

Yeah, I've waited a long time to get a set of speakers that have the requirements I want so I can wait a bit longer.
