Default No harddrives on i810 mobo

I'm trying to add 2 HDDs to an Intel 810 based system. When booting, the bios can't detect the HDD's on either the primary or secondary channels.

If I plug in a CD-ROM, it's detected ok. Both HDD's have come out of another machine at home and are working ok.
One is a WD400BB, the other an IBM DLTA-307045.

I've tried connecting only one, as well as using 40 & 80 wire cables.

Looking for some suggestions what to try next.

The mobo bios more than likely needs updating there are set limits where some bio's won't detect a certain size hdd they are 32GB then the next is 120GB i think.

All fixed.

Finally found a newer bios. A real pta considering the manufacturer doesn't exist anymore.

After much nashing of teeth and prayers to the computer gods, the new bios went in and the HDD's are now recognised.

Thanks for all suggestions.
