Default zzzzzzzz Problem

I am having a problem with my computer. Every time I open up work, try to type a web address in explorer or any other place where you type text it will keep on typing "zzzzzzzzzzzzzz" and will not stop.

eg. As soon as I open up MS Word it will just start typing "zzzzzzzzzzzz"

I have -

- changed my keyboard completely. And also tried a PS2 port keyboard.

- Run my Virus scanner

- Run a spyware program

With no success. Has anybody got any ideas?

Its like the "Z" key is just pushed down all the time as when i reboot windows and it's at the BIOS screen where it detects all my hardware it makes a beeping sound from the PC speaker just like ify you were holding down a key for too long.

Thanks

Sometimes if you have other peripherals connected to the computer it can give false/unwanted inputs. Not sure of that'll set off the Z key on a keyboard though! Of course try inconnecting other things first ie joystick, gamepad and see if it helps.

Have you tried a USB keyboard?

Wow, that's an interesting one!

So you've tried different keyboards, and tried them using PS2 and USB connections. That would rule out a faulty mobo connection or a faulty keyboard.

The fact that it happens as soon as you boot up your computer would indicate that the problem is unrelated to Windows keyboard drivers.

Go into your BIOS setup and disable "typematic rate setting", and set "Gate A20 option" to "normal" (if you have these settings).

If that doesn't work I'd say there is a problem with your keyboard controller. How long has it been happening, and when did the error first occur?

i'm inclined to think it's something like what Brodieman suggested. try unplugging all input devices and see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the replies. Its working again now without doing anything.

I have a good idea it could be the USB X-Arcade conflicting with the USB keyboard I got within the last two weeks.
