Yeah, unreal annihilation looks very impressive.

I think if you're keen for a game, then talk over MSN, and just create a TA group.

Just played a skirmish game to practise a bit (Havent played for two or three years).

Beat 3 computer opponents on easy, but it was way too easy.

Built the Vulcan for the first time ever, it's a thing of beauty. I made sure I had enough power (50000 storage, and like 6000 production) and the auto radar targetting thing. It just kept firing, it got about 150 kills before all the enemy commanders died. (I forgot to turn that off)

Targetting facility allows your units to target enemy units by radar not by sight.

The heavy laser tower actually has a decent range but cannot see very far, which is its weakness. But with a targetting facility it can fire at its longest range without having to SEE the enemy as long as the enemy is on the radar.

Yeah, Build bertha's around the map, along with advanced radars near enemy base's.... Build a targeting facility, and set your guns to autofire....

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......

I Love the Experimental Units from TAUCP - They are so god damn huge. i normally play against my brother (who might i add is like 5 years younger than me) and he always kicks my arse!

i get an army of as many of the experimental Kbots as i can, and i love the Orcones the best

this is so cool, i cant believe everyone is getting back into ta. i was so tempted to start this thread a few days ago but i have been too busy with uni.

anyone looking for games, go to ww.tauniverse.com

and look at the irc options (the irc server is meant to be www.tauniverse.com) and join gnug. discovered it a few days ago. theres a fair australian community playing ta already and they base all their games from this.

+ if you look on tauniverse somewhere, i saw it the other day, someone has uploaded both original cds, + cc + battle tactics. So everyone hook in and get everything

fuck this game rocks

i have been playing non stop with mates on our college network when were meant to be working. its fucking sick

Only 3 days ago I upgraded to a AMD Athlon 3000+. I think it goes without saying that TA runs pretty good on it

Over the last few years I have been working to perfect the add on units that I have so as you get the best units without getting any over laps (using TA Mutator, it gets most of them fixed but never all) and most importantly a stable game. If you add too many Units the game can crash randomly and with some rather strange error messages.

Right now I think I am sitting on a winner, my and CaveDog play it every day or so and the unit range is pretty good. And best of all its stable! We have to game slightly modded (as everyone should) so the unit limit is 1500. Most people think that this is impossible to hit but if you play 'Seven Islands' properly then you hit it way too quick. As a matter of fact I think I might bump it up to 2000 units tonight...

*dreams of playing TA at work*

One other thing.

One of the reason TA keeps getting better is because of resolution. The first time I played it, many many years ago, I was playing the hardcore res of 640x480. As time went on I then got to use 800x600, boy was I excited because this is when I noticed that the higher your res is the more you can see, the menu at the sides uses the same amount of pixels as does the playing field, meaning you can then see more. I then progressed to 1024x768, thinking this was just insane, I could actually see the attacking unit and the unit it was attacking at the same time! I now run it at 1280x960 and CaveDog runs it at 1600x1200. I can't wait to get a better monitor.

Other reasons it still rocks is because of the graphics, now don't laugh, I know the technology is nearly 8 or 9 years old, but it still rocks. Shadows, crazy explosions, the nanolathe. It all looks and plays good.

I love TA. I better go home and play it now.

Hmmm... TA @ 1600x1200

Is there a club for that?

Remember, if you use MSN or ICQ, create a TA group. I'm keen for a game sooner than later. Although Monday night, we tried to play, but no one could see my game. Not too sure why though...
