Default headphone amp?

I just bought some sennheiser hd590s and i am wondering what to do about an amp. How much do amps cost? im not looking for anything special just a run of the mill amp to help power them for use on my computer and cd player. I have seen some kits where you build your own amp and was wondering if any of them are ok. any advice would be much appreciated.

Wait for Snufkin (resident headphones god).

in the meantime how much do u wanto spend?

go have a look @ headphones.com.au..you can get a REGA amp for around $400 or a much nicer Talisman for around $700

or u might wanto go DIY if you gave basic electronics skills or someone who can help you.

IMHO the HD590 doesn't benefit a great deal from amplification.

If you really want to add one though, a DIY amp something along the lines of a cmoy, pimeta or ppa wouldn't be bad

It really comes down to what you want to achieve.

I guess you might wanto consider getting a talisman amp or similar if you plan on upgrading to something like HD-600's a bit later.

Yeah, if you want a basic amp for a bit of extra volume the Cmoy isn't bad.

Again - it depends on what you want to achieve
