Default Nulon Concentrate Ratio

I just went out and bought myself some Nulon Concentrated coolant and some Distilled water, and i'm not 100% sure what Ratio to use. I've searched for what some people have used, and it's been a little vague as to what mixture they're using.

This is the exact lable on the front:

Nulon Long life Concentrated Coolant 100% Concentrate.
1060g glycol per litre.

Should 1:1 do?

Hmmm, well on the side it seems the general ratio for cars is between 33% and 50%, so i might give it a shot. Mine doesn't say how much I should put for every 2 Litres... which is wierd. I'll try it out and see how it goes.

I just used whatever it said on the bottle. Which was like 100-200mL/L water. Can't remember exactly, but I'm sure if you use a little more or less it won't make much difference.

It depends on which nulon product you actually bought

Nulon Concentrate is a ratio of 1:1
Nulon Ultracool is 100ml per 2L of water (1:20) ratio.

Ultracool comes in a small bottle of 500ml, and the nulon concentrate is usually a large bottle.

dude seriously do you enjoy putting large amounts of ethelyene glycol in your system, you dont need more than 10% if you have a standard rad and same metal blocks

so a 1:10 ratio

I just guesstimated between 33%and 50%

Be aware though, nulon will stain your tubing be it green or red.

Could have something to do with a strongish concetration, but I actually emailed nulon asking about using the red, he recomended using 33% IIRC.

Not sure about tygon but my clearflex turned pink after a few months, was still transparent, just stained pink and I couldn't get it off.

Can't tell when its filled though.

Meh, I'm not too worried if it stains. If it happens it happens.

Well, i set it all up, and I used about a 40/60 mix (Concentrate/Dist Water). I've been running it for about half an hour, currently typing this up on it Very happy with my first WC setup.

Now, here comes the OCing.

thats still way to much coolant as i said for that setup you dont need more than 10% concentrate 90% water, yes nulon would say mix 33% concentrate but that is for cars! where the temperatures are 100 degrees and there are mixed metals, computer cooling does not need this level of protection as corrosion at these computer cooling temperatures is much lower, im saying this because you performance would be better if you didnt use such a high concentration of concentrate, as water absorbs more heat without changing tempearture (specific heat capacity)

Ok, how much of a performance decrease will there be with this mixture? I'm already getting pretty damn good temps, if I improve them much more i'll be running VERY close to ambient :P

Swifty Devil is spot on. I use a 33% glycol mix for my car.

with the pc, I guess it would depend if you're using dissimilar metals, in which case I'd use a large ratio (probably 20%).

But yeah, I can't see myself using much of this stuff at all when I get my WC together. maybe 1:20.

I use an 8-10% solution for water cooling systems. I have used this now for several years without any adverse affect.

I did specify it was going to be used in a computer watercooling system when I emailed him too BTW

if the man at nulon says 33% then he isnt that well educated in the area or he is referring to a pre-mixed coolant that isnt a concentrate so the total amount of concentrate in the system would be that of 1:10 or less.

its coolant, you dont need alot. Not that many nasties can survivewith a tiny amount of coolant. The water doesnt need to be green.
