Most likely your CEO wants you in a gallente BS because its an armor tanker.
The shield tanked Rokh is hard to fit into a RR BS (remote rep battleship) fleet because.... it can't help the tank of the whole. For this reason a lot of the tier 3 BS (Hyp/Rokh/Abaddon/Mael) aren't preferred because they're 8x turret slots with no utility spots for Remote Reps etc (without compromising their DPS below that of a tier2 BS). Perhaps offer to train skills to maximise an armor tanking Raven instead?

Right but the Rokh would still be a better armour tank than a Raven, more shields, more armour, more cpu & grid, same low/med/high slot no.'s??? Is there something I'm missing?

The Rokh relies on using all 8 of its highslots to achieve the damage expected of it.
The raven only requires 6 to achieve its maximum potential. Yes, armor tanking a raven removes its extra potential due to fitting BCUs, but for a fleet fight we're looking at: 1. Total payable after insurance assuming 100% loss. 2. Ability to receive repair support. 3. Ability to give repair support. Always fit a ship according to its bonuses. By ignoring the shield boost bonus of the Rokh (I think thats one of its bonuses right?), you're effectively throwing away the reason to fly the ship. The Rokh 100% has a place as a fleet sniper, especially for PVP, but you may as well be in a cruise raven for PVTower as it will do more damage.

Rokh has no utility slots. Putting a remote repper (which takes a high slot) would be limiting your DPS, therefore, limiting you're effectiveness. Megathron has 7 turret slots and a missile slots, so you could still cover it in turrets and then use the missile slot to fit a remote repper and maintain your effectiveness.
Or... You could do as everyone else is suggesting and just do what you want to do. If he doesn't like it, find another corp. There's literally thousands of them. If you were to change to a megathron... Gallente isn't really that much of a switch... you're still using hybrids (unless you've spec'd for missiles) and the only extra skills you'll need are mechanic, hull upgrades, repair systems and a few drone skills... and even then you don't need to many drone skills, hammerheads or warriors should be fine for taking out frigs that come to close. And like I said before, whether you're in a Rokh, Raven or Megathron, you're going to need drones anyway. Anything smaller than a cruiser you aren't going to be able to hit at close range. In some level 4's there are warp scrambling frigs, so you wouldn't even be able to warp out if you get to close to hull. The Megathron itself isn't a "drone boat" anyway, all battleships can carry drones and they can a significant boost in the DPS department. If he wanted you to fly a Dominix or a Myrmidon then you would definitely want to put a lot into drones... But Megathron should be fine with a bunch of tech 1 drones, just needs to be able to take out pesky frigates in missions. Focus on hybrid turret skills and armour tanking skills and you should be fine in a Megathron... if you chose to go that way. EDIT: After reading LOD's post, drones can also help take out pesky frigates that try tackle you in pvp as well as maximising DPS (which is definitely important in PVP) Last edited by SpammT; 22nd July 2008 at 10:37 AM. |

I'm with Aus corp.
Hard finding decent sized corps that don't take themselves too seriously. |

Where abouts are you located? I'm chilling in Sinq Liason (sp?) at the moment, decided to semi-afk grind the mining while I wait for my cruiser skills to finish training. There's just soooo much anime to watch but so little time to do that and play eve, win-win situation imo

What's the skill that lets you influence the markets not in your system? ie buy/sell items over longer distances. Quite enjoying making money on the market at the moment.
Edit 1: Should have looked here first really: Supply Chain Management Edit 2: Hmm, that's not the one actually. Edit 3: Marketing and Procurement... that's it.

Jita is about ten jumps away and it is mostly hostile all the way. Navula and Taisy is most of the time camped mostly by pirates.

With the faction warfare going on we get not many hostiles anymore, but if we do they tend to find out very quickly why we have an NBSI policy via a gate camp.

I'm very much interested in getting into the PVP side of things, I've got enough skills and gear to tackle (not that there is a lot required) but I haven't given it a go yet. I'm also a competent miner but I haven't really pumped much SP into those as yet, could easily spend a few days to get a decent ship for hauling (Mamoth or Iteron 5) but I would only do it if I saw a genuine need for it. My little Badger is more than enough for my needs at the moment
What's everyone's stance on ore thieves? From what I gathered on the EVE forums people seem to think they are the lowest of the low but I've been mining with the thought that it will get stolen at some point and I will be annoyed but I'll accept it. |
