hey, just started this, on my 6th day of trial, i have basically learned most the ins and outs, enjoying myself.

are interceptors any good? i want a very fast ship that can still do damage, the intercepter goes a nice speed, but im worried that it is too paperlike and will get destroyed very easy... any comments?

else i will go with the thorax cruiser, about 3x as good as my catalyst destoryer, but slow as shit!.

Ceptors are good, but it all depends on a setup. I remember a guy in a ranis killed a corp members Azura with a fair amount of ease, since we know most ranis setups don't use a small armour repper (repairer) in low slots. Rax (Thorax) is an awesome ship and so is it's tech 2 brother the deimos. Both are deadly with the correct setup. Your choice, but stick with the ship that you can afford to replace easiest and then browse some websites that i am sure some people will recommend and see what best suits your style of play.

any idea on the dps required to take down a crimson lord?

im thinking the 650dps harbinger i'm about to fit should cover it (plus whatever the other guys missiles are doing.. maybe another 200dps)

but if it's not we're screwed lol.

peak shield recharge is 400dps
and whatever the shield reps.. so maybe .. 600 unresisted dps :/

hmm might need over 1000... better have him bring his alt along.

I doubt there is a dread or carrier size rat. Only cap rats are fighter drone npc's. The faction and officer rats are usually BS size rats with nasty dmg and nasty resistences.

There are freighter sized rats (carrying 40+ million units of minerals).
I was under the impression carrier sized rats were present in L5 missions, but I've never done one so... no idea lol.

They're Hauler Spawns. You get them in place of a Faction spawn when ratting sometimes. Usually quite lucrative. In the area I rat it, there are gurista rats, occasionally you'll get a spawn that has 4 Badgers in it, named as Gurista Trailers. They're not actually freighters, but they hold ludicrous amounts of mins. One 4 ship spawn I got dropped 18 million units of tritanium, along with about 4 million pyerite and a heap of mexallon and zydrine. It took 3 of us about an hour to haul it all back to station, apparently rat cargoholds are much roomier than regular ones

Here's the info on the Crimson Lord...

I know about the hauler spawns, but they ain't freighters. They are usually cruiser size rats. Well the ones in our 0.0 are osprey's that drop minerals.

Crimson Lord's from memory are in blood raider plexes, I cannot remember thou if it was a 6/10 or an escalation plex (base/fortress/outpost etc) but they are not that nasty.

1 BS will take it down, a BC or smaller may take it down but would take some time, it's all the other spawns that are there you need to worry about

I dual account 6/10's pretty easy with 1 BS & BC and most escalation plexes with the same setup. BC setup as a tank, BS as DPS (drake/raven combo works for me).

crimson lord is the overseer of a 6/10 blood plex

peak shield recharge of over 400dps
armor rep of i-dont-have-a-clue (plus resists)

BS sized.

dps wise they're nothing, no more than a generic blood bs really. but they have a really huge tank comparatively for a rat.

im going fit out a paper thin gank harby (650dps or so).. along with the drake tanking, and its little bit of extra dps, we should be good i hope

ED: and its shield charge isn't 1min it's 30000 ms ... 30s.

ED2: oh lol, now we have a shield rep domi, this just went from fun challenge to cakewalk.

A couple of level 5 missions have carrier rats in them.

i also understand that the new 'epic mission arc' for new Gallente players includes a Nid rat. They aren't all that common though.

Yea that will proably work, just make sure the drake gets 100% aggro in the last stage, as you already have found out they will eat your cap pretty quick.

I'll have to see if I can find you plexing when I get home from work

You get them in 0.0 Either they're really rare or I'm just unlucky. I did get one a day or two ago (2mil pyrite, 1 mil trit, 100k mex)., but that was the first time in 2 months maybe. It was a small spawn in terms of loot, but better than a kick in the teeth

we've been in the last stage.. no cap eating at all.

and the turrets do next to no damage.

ED:RAAAGEEE 2 jumps away from the plex... incredibly massive gate camp.
didn't see the other guy tell me not to jump in
now we not only miss out on the a-type loot in the plex, i'm back down to 30m AND i got podded and lost a full set of +4's... ... now in a prophecy with a full T1 fit.. woo, how awesome...
...
so tempted to take a break from eve after this, just leave skills training.. but i'd be wasting time not having implants in.. gah.

hopfully will get a dark blood spawn soon... though 3 days without one (and everyone in the exploration channel saying the same thing) seems like CCP's screwed something up maybe?.

ED2: why exactly do people pod people? i have absolutely no desire to, i mean, you get nothing out of it but pure trolling, nothing drops or anything :|
