Question PDA Advice

Hey everyone, im rather new to the world of PDA's and was looking at buying one in a couple of months, i had a look on ebay and found one that i think is ok, its a hp Ipaq 1910 and i could pick one up for about $250. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for one (or what this one is like). Im trying to stay under the $300 mark so any recommendations would be greatfuly appreciated

Good if you like the design, the speed's a little slow, but that's about all you'll notice.

If you want a faster speed (400mhz), but around the same price, perhaps not as stable... there's the Viewsonic V70 too.

I'd say your better off grabbing a 1930/45 at least the 1910 lacks SDIO making it virtually non-upgradable. Aside from that it is a pretty decent PDA I used it for about a year. For watching videos on it if you get a decent media player on it you should be able to watch some on it might be a little slow with certain file types. With playing music it should do it flawlessly just grab a decent sized SD card and you'll be right it will also last hours on battery as just a music player. Currently though I upgraded to a 2210 a few weeks ago. The 400MHz over 200MHz makes it better for watching other video files and better for more powerful games like Quake aside from that theres little difference in the default apps. Oh lastly the 1910 does not have windows mobile 2003 it still runs 2002 where the 1930 does and the 1945 sports bluetooth.

Nevac's fairly accurate on this one.

If you're into music and video watching, you'll find the processor speed slower at times. Not all things, mp3s should be fine, but MTVs definitely slower.

V37 (edit, wrong model no.) has a SDIO slot as well, but has absolutely zippo wireless features.

iPaq's can be upgraded for the most part to the latest version of the OS. They're quite good with upgrades.

I haven't heard of WM2003 Second Edition upgrades for the iPaqs yet though (and not for the V70s either).

Take a look at the Dell Axim X30 range. The 312MHz models are based on a new Intel processor that's supposedly as fast or faster than the prior 400MHz version but graphics speed is vastly improved. The top of the line model utilises a 624MHz processor that leaves pretty much everything in the world of PocketPC PDAs in its wake (though at $650 -- AU$513 from Dell US -- it's out of the price range you had in mind).

Looks like no Ipaq's or Axim's will get the upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 2nd Edition now.
