Default B&W Speakers or not?

I'm looking for a good pair of speakers for about $1200.

I had a look at some B&W 601's, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows of some good speakers around that price?

Everyone in this thread was just joking, DU is highly radioactive. Marines are trained to fire hundreds of DU penetrators into every house they see, to better irradiate Iraqi children. This is because, curiously enough, cancerous children are easier to grind up into sweet, sweet crude. - FallenGod - from SA.

Check out Orpheous, ,made in Australia, here in Sydney they are fantastic speakers. Ive got a set of Auora 3's and use they a French set of Audax Drivers & Tweeters, should be able to get a pair at $1400 or there abouts from Len Wallis, Lane Cove...

nice speakers!

For $1200, have a listen to a pair of Missions. The UK made ones, not Malaysian made. Similar sorta sound from B&W, as they have pretty much the same 'philosophy'.

As soon as you start spending that sort of money its pretty hard to go wrong anyway. No quality loud speaker is going to sound bad you will just naturally like some over others.

No offence to the guy, he probably knows his stuff, but he is a bit of a rip off.

You could also check out some Australian speakers. Krix and Osborne are both pretty decent brands.

B&W are very nice though.
