Post Power consumption in a "Shuttle SN45G"

I have a Shuttle SN45G with standard "200w" psu.

Looking to run:
1x DVD-RW
2x WD Raptors
1x GeCube 9800 Pro

Along with my MP 2600+

Will it be able to handle the power drain or do I have to go out and spend a $100+ on the 250w psu.

Cheers
2QIK

Edited: 200w psu

Hi, are you sure your SN45G has got a 240W PSU? I thought they only came with a 200W one.

Personally I'd go for the 250W as it's got more power and better cooling.

I was running a SB51G with a lot les than that with the 200W PSU which failed. Mine was the exception rather than the rule but by the time I'd sent it back and forth a couple of times for warranty I would have been better off buying the 250W PSU straight off.

The forums at http://forums.sudhian.com/ are more SFF specific and might be of help.

Cheers Pedro :-)

Currently running:

SB61G2 with 250 Watt SilentX PSU

P4 3.0c @ 3.5GHz
1GB PC4000 Corsair
1x Western digital 200GB 8mb SATA HDD
Pioneer 8x (107D) DVD/RW
Gecube X800 Pro vivo

SB75G2 with 250 Watt SIlentX PSU

P4 3.0e @ 3.0GHz
1GB Generic PC3200
1x Western digital 80GB 8mb HDD
Pioneer 8x (107D) DVD/RW
HIS 256MB 9600XT

Both of these systems run fine with no problems or glitches. I can't see you having any hassles running your setup on the Standard 200Watt PSU

Will definitely power those components, hell I've seen some with X800 Pro's in them.

SN45G
DVD+-RW
2x200GB WD JB
XP2500+ @ 3200+ default voltage
2x DIMMS
9800Pro 128MB
Gigabit PCI NIC

All worked fine using standard PSU, even in high ambient temps (35-40C).

SN45G
DVD R/RW
80gb Seagate
2700xp (at speeds in sig)
5900xt (at speeds in sig)
1gb Ram

The voltage rails all seem pretty dam stable and very close to required values.

Shuttle SN45G
XP2500 @ 2.2GHz @ 1.65v
WD1600JB
DVD Burner
64MB Radeon 9100
PCI USB Card

MBM reports:

+5.00 = 4.08v
+12.00 = 11.13v

Is that pretty bad?

Yes, I'd get/borrow a multimeter and check that MBM is reading the results correctly however.

Slightly offtopic but since we're talking about the SN45G, do they come standard with the SlientX 250W PSU? I bought one yesterday and got the SilentX 250W PSU standard.

I bought mine about 18 months ago, it came with the 200 (or 220W) PSU. NOT a SilentX.

Mmm, according to Shuttle's website it's supposed to come with the 200w, and that the SilentX is only an optional accessory.

The shuttle website is out of date. Shuttles have been shipping with silentX's for a couple of months as standard.

When you think about it, it makes sense to just use the one power supply across your entire range than run (and have to hold stock for warranty replacement) two lines. They cant cost much more to make.

I spose that does explain why the PSU has a SATA power connector when the board doesn't support/have a sata controller & connectors.
