Default buying a laptop overseas.

Sorry if this has been asked before but im looking for a specific laptop, ACER ferrari 3200 and i cant find anyone in australia that sells them.

so i was wondering if i buy this laptop off newegg.com, what would it cost to get shipped here and would i need to pay any import duties?, i am also able to get someone to buy it for me and send it over, will this make any difference?

Newegg don't ship overseas so that's your first hurdle.

In addition to your purchase you will incur import duty and GST. Don't quote me but I think the current cut off point without paying those taxes is $450 AU.

I got a mobile phone off eBay. Customs Australia don't believe the paid price unless you send a copy of the erceipt, correspondence, etc

Just another thing that may be of interest is check out the warranty. I know with some IBM machines they have a 3yr warranty, but only one if you are outside of the country of origin. Acer is probably different though, but you don't want to be stuck with a notebook without a bit of warranty...

About $150au to send it by courier, and yes you will need to pay a customs clearing fee (~$65) and gst.
