PPC requires new touch screen.. any idea $$$$????

My HP 5450's screen died 2 months out of the 1year warranty, the top left quarter of the screen no longer responds to input.

After much reading this appears to be a common fault right through out the model range.

It appears that the only place for repair is to ship it up to HP in Sydney, but i wonder how much they are going to sting me to replace the screen and wonder if it will cost as much as the damn thing is worth?

Anyone had any experiences?
