Admin, if you think this belongs somewhere else, please move the thread. I searched but couldn't find an answer. On google, only stores with purchase info came up.
My question is: Can an iBook (G4) take PC2700 333MHz DDR memory in its expansion port (SO DIMM) even though the Apple website recommends PC2100 rather than PC2700? I would think it's reverse compatible, but have no real concrete answer (and some people were being vague). |

It works in PCs, I don't see why it wouldn't also work in Apples. It shouldn't make a difference. The clock generation hardware in the computer will decide what frequency the memory will operate at. PC2700 memory runs fine at PC2100's frequency. Take from that what you will.

Shouldn't be a problem at all.

I put in a HP PC 2700 512MB module from an Evo notebook into my brand new iBook, and so far it has worked perfectly |

Thank you for your help. I went ahead and ordered a 256mb chip from eBay ($40) which seems pretty cheap. I'd like a 512mb one, but I doubt I'll find one cheap.

Can't see a prob with it - the iBook G4's support it.
I must say I haven't done it though.
