Default HELP! I broke my laptop.

hi ppl as he topic says i was using my lappy (optima W100 series) and i sorta bent the screen very slighty by accident, and the lcd snapped up the middle of the screen. is there a way to get a new lcd in there? or is it broken for good? any help greatly appreciated.

Yes you can replace the LCD, but as is the case with most laptop parts, it will be very expensive. It may not even be worth it, as displays are probably the most expensive thing to replace.

Have a look on Ebay for the same laptop with a different problem (dead mainboard, dead CPU). That'll be cheaper than buying a new screen from the manufacturer, and you'll have spare parts for use later too.

Wow, that truly sucks..

First check to see if you can claim it as a manufacturer defect on your warranty

Second, check your home and contents insurance to see if it could be covered

Third, stick it in a bin and claim it was stolen

Fourth, if you're at all computer savvy, take slatyes fine suggestion and purchase an equivilant laptop with something dead other then the screen and do a transplant. Word of warning though, disassembling laptops isn't much fun. Have a large, clean, well lit space. Have something to put the screws in. Document where everything went.
