Default gcc for m68k

I was wondering if anyone has experience with gcc cross compiler for the m68322 processor or more specifically the eyebot board.

I can compile assembler files but it gives me a wrong file type error when trying to compile .c files. I tried just a simple file with only the main function in it but still had no luck. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

[Edit]
I forgot to mention I was using the dos version in 98se
