does anyone know where to get these 40mm babies? need 2 of them to replace the noisy "Silent" fans.
heard the SilentX 40mm ones are pretty good, but is it available in aus? has anyone tried them with any success?

SilenX, and no, they arent available in australia.
Try www.silenx.com I've got 2 40mm SilenX's in my SilentX (confused yet) power supply, one 80mm fan on the inside of the radiator, and another 92mm one running at a lowered voltage on the outside. My shuttle is a lot (~9.5dB +- 0.5dB with my sound meter) quieter when pumping out zero's with zetagrid.

yea was looking for a local supplier, from that website they chagen over 20bucks au for 1 plus shipping which will cost a killing.. and at the rate of "silentx" claims. I wouldnt bet on how quiet it really is.
