If you do head in there for some of that stuff, make sure you check out the "as is" section, where they sell all their display units, returns etc.
You might not find the bookcase, but we got two sets of doors, one half height and one full height, for our bookcases, for the fine sum of $30, all up. Didn't come with hinges, but the nice girl at the service desk gave them to us for nothing anyway.

i've seen something similar at a place up here called "Bali at Home"
it looks like solid wood but sounds like plastic when tapped or knocked on

Yeah, wish I bought some more at the time. They were expensive, but so nice - came in different tiers as well!

Probably laminated MDF/chipboard.

If you have even some slight experience with woodworking or cabinet making you could probably make a dvd shelf that would suit your room better than something you could buy. I find it more rewarding making things like that that buying them. So many places are doing that terrible distressed look where they take an angle grinder to the timber or something to make it look worn. Just ends up looking terrible.

We just finished upgrading a 12yo 68cm CRT over Easter.
Hardware:
-55" Sony LCD. Mounted on a bracket from www.selbyaccoustics.com.au (great store btw. Was only about $40 delivered for the bracket)
-Denon 1610 AVR
-5x LSK M4 kits from www.theloudspeakerkit.com
-10" Richter Krakatoa sub
-Popcorn Hour A-100 for a media player
-Xbox 360
-Logitech One remote to make it all a bit more 'wife friendly'

Here's a quick rundown with a few pics:

Firstly the M4's are pretty damn good bang for buck speakers(especially with an OCAU member discount). Had a bit of trouble getting them as they forgot to ship them... but it was worth the wait. Had them assembled, primed, sanded and painted in probably about 4 hours -not including drying times.
They are painted in hammertone effect black paint from bunnings. I also resprayed the frame of the hifi stand with some leftover paint(It was silver to begin with -looked great in the 1990's ). I was a bit concerned about losing a lot of lower-mid range by running 5 speakers so small but we're very happy with the sound. I think the Audyssey setup with the AVR had a lot to do with masking this.

As far as cabling goes one HDMI and a Toslink run from the AVR to the TV, with a bullnose plate on the wall at the receiver end and 40mm desk grommet behind the TV to keep it neat. A power point was added behind the TV and seperate switch near the receiver gear so it can be fully turned off when there is a storm. Network point was added as well while we were at it.

Big to my bro who did all the crawling round in the roof

^ Nice, I quite like that hammertone effect black paint, much better than a lot of the piano black finishes that is just soooooo common these days

Thanks, to be 100% honest the hammertone paint was chosen because it was a lot quicker to do than any gloss paint or veneer.
Having a toddler under my feet all day makes me a bit time poor for projects like this these days.

WOW... you trust a $4k TV on a bracket worth 1% of its value? Nuts!

Why not?

We have a 58" Samsung Plasma (~$5000 when bought) that weighs a tonne, mounted with a Selby's wall-mount (~$100).

We got a lot of fasteners into wall studs and it's been mounted for 4mnths now without issue.

Oh btw Okisub.
Your system looks fantastic. May it bring many hours of entertainment!

The TV is only worth ~$2k but as far as quality goes I'm 99% confident in it, even hung off it myself to test it out. It appears to be the same gauge steel as I've seen in the $200 brackets sold at Bunnings/Harvey Norman. Plus there isn't much to them, just a metal plate that bolts to the wall with coach screws and heavy hooks that screw to the back of the TV. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they came from the same factories.

FuzzyKaos, now that's a bad ass centre channel.

I've long wanted to hear that exact VAF set-up you have... me so jealous!
Describe the sound for me so I can close my eyes and touch myself.
