So tempted to pick up the demo Paradigm Signature S6/S8's eastwood hifi have on sale, bookshelves just aren't cutting it anymore for music.

Question is, would I regret not getting the S8's over the smaller S6's?

Usage is mostly stereo for music, maybe 30% movies. The remainder of the setup will only be Studio series, currently with Studio 20 v.5 fronts, and a CC590 v.5 center. The 20's will be moved to the rear for surround duty and I was hoping the center would blend reasonably well with the Sig's.

I guess I just have to demo the Sig's to determine whether or not the larger S8 is needed.

Thought it was about time I posted an updated pic of my HT setup.

Still running the Accusound AS308MkII fronts, made at a time before Accusound was an Ebay brand, they're about 15 years old now and they've never given me an issue.

Equipment as follows:

-Receiver, Pioneer VSX LX60.
-Phonic Max 860 power amp powering the fronts.
-40GB PS3 phat, with Logitech IR to BT receiver.
-HTPC: Q6600, 2GB ram, ATi HD5770, LG BD/HD-DVD combo drive, 500GB HDD + 120GB HDD (5TB network storage), Windows 7MC, Media Browser, Shark 007's codec pack, Arcsoft Totalmedia Theater 5.
-Hitachi 1080 50" plasma.
-Epson TW-3200 projector, 3LCD with C2 Fine D7 Inorganic panels, a claimed (some say it's higher) 25,000:1 contrast ratio - Love this projector, it's PQ is just awesome, and none of that rainbow effect I'm so sensitive to.
-Dinon 81" manual pull down projection screen.
-HDMI splitter/amplifier.
-Boston in ceiling rear speakers (totally recommended)
-Dahli Blue C1000 center.
-Jenson SPX17 sub (sings down to 20Hz).
-Logitech 1000i.

Cheers dude, thanks.

Nothing finer than relaxing of an evening with a beer and a good movie on the big screen.

VERY nice setup flu!d, nothing wrong with those 'old' speakers and I love the old wooden entertainment unit, I have some big old AARON fronts that have the basic tweeter, one 5" mid and two 8" bass and they really do sound fantastic, even the very highs come thru

I'd hate to see your power bill if you left that HTPC going 24/7 though like some ppl do (I do, but Zacate saved me)

Oh and do you want to swap you LX60 for my LX50 ???

Thanks for the comments Slobber.

Yes, i love my Accusound fronts. I was recently looking for speakers with the same frequency response/power handling as I was going to replace them, but to be honest, I couldn't find anything I really liked that wasn't worth an absolute fortune.

And the entertainment unit is something a little different from the chocolate 'modern look', center speaker fits perfectly in the top center recess too!

I want to upgrade the HTPC to a smaller core i3/integrated HDMI video solution, but the old girl just keeps on going and is terribly reliable (a very important point when it comes to HTPC's), it forms the center of my Hometheater as it plays back all my BD's/HD-DVD's and streams all my HD rips in glorious 1080p with bitstreamed HD audio and it runs our two HD digital tuners for time shifting/recording TV - And yes, it is a little thirsty, although my power bill seemed to drop last quarter, which seems to be a little against the trend speaking to other people regarding their bills?!

And I love my LX60, it's a tank of a thing!

I hate all these 'modern' shiny ent units though they do make fantastic dust magnets

Agreed, I've never really been a fan of the modern look myself.

Apart from anything, I find that most of the modern affordable entertainment units struggle to locate the center speaker in the center position and aren't terribly generous when it comes to room for full sized HT gear.

Was just looking at my first post in this thread, my how things have changed since 2004! I'm so glad everyone jumped on board with this thread and contributed so much over the years...

....It's the OCAU community I enjoy so much - Good job guys!

Sorta did some cabling clean up tonight. Can't afford to have someone run the cables through the wall, so I just got some PVC ducts and painted them to match the wall hehe

Lights on:

Lights off:

Specs:

TV : Samsung 64" D550
Receiver : Yamaha RX-V567 @7.1
Speakers : Yamaha Floor stander x2, Yamaha Satelites x2, Yamaha Center x1, Yamaha Subwoofer x1, Sony Satelites x2 (can't find matching Yamaha cheaply and had some spare Sony sitting around gathering dust)
Console "Tree" on right : PS3 launch Model, Wii, Xbox 360 Launch model, HTPC (i3 based)

Lights behind TV from LED strips bought from Ikea.

It's not a bedroom!!! Unfortunately I can't afford a large house, so a smaller theatre room will have to suffice.

But those are twin Chaise so it feels like a bedroom anyway.
