Bah! Cmon guys, its good, but not THAT good!

I don't have to go posting some of the avsforum guys HT's again to show you some REAL HT's do I?

...

Joking

Very nice setup. Not the best I've seen but nice none the less.

BTW rahl - what are you using for acoustic panels on the wall? My setup REALLY needs it atm!!!

Watch this space....

My setup when (or if) my amp gets back from the insurance mob I'll post pics. Grrrrr 1 month without my amp already

Edit: Make that 3 and a half, yes 3 AND A HALF MONTHS. FFS how long does it take - each time we ring they complain about having to ship stuff from sydney. What makes it soo dodgy is that when we first sent it off we were told a guy called Rick was working on it. When we rang a few weeks back the girl told us they've never had someone called Rick working for them ever Anyway I'm sick of headphones.

I used Insulco Semi-Rigid (45kb pdf) 50mm board with black matt facing. I had a friend make up the timber frames and grill covers to get the look I wanted. You could wrap them in burlap to keep the cost down. The room is still a bit live IMO but the first reflection points are tamed pretty well. I need to add some bass traps too.

I wish. It's taken 12 years to build this up. Most of the speakers are second hand, replica's or custom designs. I am a fussy prick and am already planning my next house so I can improve the rooms acoustics and comfort.

BTW The wide angle lens I used makes the room look longer than it is. The room is 7.5m x 4.8m.

Rahl that is simply fantastic work. Clever use of components, I really love the style and design of the room as well. Movie time at your house must be an absolute blast, I'm jealous mate, and I look forward to seeing what your imagination brings to the next incarnation of your next HT.

Thanks DJ Fusion. The room looks and feels so much better after the renovation. These photo's give an idea of how it used to look.

Just got a new telly for the bedroom that I'm impressed with so I thought I'd add a mini-review in here (see my proper HT rig on the 1st page).

So I bought a Grundig Lenaro from the Grundig warehouse, rrp$6499, paid ~$1900, and I feel like somebody just handed me the keys to a new Porsche.

From the thick manual, to the quality of the remote to the build of the TV, everything is just pure German luxury at the same price of a Teac with an STB.

Inbuilt digital TV works a charm and even picks up obscure SBS and ABC digital-only stations that my DGTEC has never found before. It auto-switches the picture ratio, and after some tiny tweaking the geometry is rock-solid.

The inbuilt DVD was a pleasant surprise as I wasn't expecting it to be multizone, nor was I expecting it to be MP3 compatible either! Bonus! Between that and the digital radio I've eliminated the need for a stereo in my room too.

I hooked up the rear speakers for the inbuilt 5.1 and chucked on the cow THX intro of Monsters Inc. "Mooooo!!" It sounds superb for a TV! With proper center, sub and rears etc this is true 5.1 digital and it sounds ace.

Other nice touches are the floating multi-function remote, curtain fade when you power off, the smooth hydraulic-like action on the flip-front, the a-z index for menu functions, the quality cable-clamps on the surround speakers and the huge cable runs they supply, heaps of little features that just make this set stand above any Japanese set I've purchased before, including my 80cm Sony ES flagship model that cost me a bomb many years ago,

They even supply a panel to hide away your rear cabling -

So its no HD plasma panel, but as a sum total of its parts this is probably the best bedroom TV available imo and I'm completely stoked with it.

That Tv looks superb DJ Fusion. How did you score it at such a good price? How big is the TV? Can you get me one? (just kidding about the last one - I won't give up my projector)

Well Grundig have recently sold off their TV division to some Indian mob or something and are focusing on LCDs etc so they're flogging off all their CRT TVs for a song through these guys http://www.extrastock.com.au/ who in turn are flogging them off on eBay, but the TVs ship directly from the Grundig warehouse with a Grundig warranty and everything.

A projector replacement it surely isn't, but dont you need a killer bedroom telly?

Anyway if it was for the living room I would have thrown in the extra dosh and tried to pick up the 92cm:

Wow, thats a mighty set.
