Has anyone here needed to go from 1 1/4 in down to 1/2 in or 3/4 in? Where have you gotten your fittings?

1.25" ??
What are you running? *imagines a hugemongous radiator*I haven't personally had to adapt down like that, but I imagine that fittings for it certainly exist in hardware shops. And if you can't get a direct barb, an intermediate fitting should do. Plumbing is a field with a dizzying array of parts for every possible situation.

single pass auto radiators have this size barb. The thing is, i am concerned about the turbulence at the juncture. A tapered adapter would be nice to preserve laminar flow, but...

i found what i needed in case anyone has a similar need-this is what i use--
2 pieces found only at a heating and plumbing supply house 1 1/4 barb to 1 1/4 threaded female end 1 1/4 male threaded end to 1/2 in female thread these 2 pieces screw together so the final assembled fixture is only slightly larger than the barb add to this the 1/2 in barb to 1/2 in male threaded end easily found at home depot teflon tape is superior to plumbers putty or the ptfe paste according to three separate plumbers i asked while searching for the fittings. Also important is to hand tighten only, plastic threads easily crack if wrench tightened. |
