Guys what I think he is trying to say is that if anyone is having a BIOS problem he can help.

He is also quite obviously not a native english speaker - so why not give him a break?

If you actually spend more than 20 second reading his posts you can usually rearrange words and add others in to make the passage relatively clear (for THESE forums anyway).

Although, I could be totally wrong and this could just be a stupid prank.

What he's suggesting is a very dodgy and highly NOT recommended method of fixing certain bios issues with IBM laptops, this method has been around for ages and generally results in a screwed motherboard, trust me, I have seen plenty of failed efforts, its not generally very good advice to tell someone to take a soldering iron to their laptop mainboard .

There ARE other methods of removing the passwords etc which are non invasive.......

You are correct though, we should have been a bit more understanding and at least asked him to put on a flame suit first

My apologies UUMM

edit: in all honesty, I'm glad OCAU is so multicultural, and I encourage other non-native English speakers to participate more~!

ZZapped, that Joe's unlocker does actually work and using SOFTICE I didn't even have to send the encrypted file to joe for processing. I don't think that there ARE any other methods if you've forgotten the cmos password but I'd be happy to know if you've come across another method.

You are CERTAINLY right when you say that its easy to really screw up a motherboard if your soldering skills aren't VERY good.

As to UUMM's post , I think he's just trying to help or maybe it is a veiled advertisement, but his use of english could make our interpretation wrong.
Hard to say.

hey, no problem UUMM. But due to your english, people may tend to misunderstand you.

I have successfully used "joes" method to unlock an IBM, but then I've been trained in surface mount soldering by hand. Not easy, but not impossible either.

I'd still like to hear how one can reset the cmos password "non invasively"
