Default 10D, 20D D30 Cable release Clone

Found this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...845441407&rd=1

Selling a clone of the Canon cable release which is waaaaay expensive and pretty hard to manufacture yourself for US$22 including shipping. If I hadn't already bought the Canon one I'd be getting one of these myself.

Nice. Thanks for the headsup. I always wanted a remote release, but couldn't justify the Canon's asking price. I'll be looking to get one of these soon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the 10D use a different shutter release plug to the 20D?? I thought that the 20D was the same as the 1D and 1Ds, but the 10D was much the same as the 300D.

Consider yourself corrected, the 10d and 300D are totally different. Maybe a 20D owner can provide details on the 20D cause I can't be bothered looking it up right now but I do know that it has the 3 pin triangle like the 10D.

D30
D60
300D
10D
20D
1D
1D mkII
1Ds

Summary. 300D is the odd one out.
D30, D60, 10D, 20D are all the same.
1D, 1D mkII, 1Ds appear to be the same but upside down.
300D is totally different.

I can't find it at the moment but someone adapted the plastic container film comes in to be a shutter release for a 300D. All they did was put a press-button switch in the side and another in the base connected them up. Might not look any good, but works just the same.
Has anyone tried this with the 3-pronged plug? I presume 1 prong would be a common and the other two being for focus and shutter. (Although the 3-pronged plug may be harder to buy than the mini-headphone type plug.)

There's a page of 300D tips and tricks,
here including using a nokia hands free as the shutter release and also making your own.

I had made my own but with just the 3 pins hanging loose, I never go around to making a plug out of some kind of resin to hold it all together. I lost interest and just ended up buying the proper canon one. Mine did have a 5m cable though so that would have been handy at some point.
