Exclamation Compaq PDA

Hi Guys,
Wondering if there are any PDA Gurus out there. A guy at work was throwing a Compaq iPaq H3600 Model 3630 PDA out.

Said it was dropped and didn't work. Said it would cost $300-00 to fix and new one was only $400-00.

I grabbed it and pressed the power button and screen flashed with like boot screen for want of a better word, then turned off again. Did it 2 - 3 times. Then nothing. Says it's not holding charge nothing. Sounds like run out of battery right!

Anyway says it's yours. Take it home, put it the cradle and the top right orange light blinks. Put it on charge for about 1 hr. Still nothing. Weird considering it at least flashed boot screen before.

Opinions, worth fixing?
Fixable?
Anyone in metro melbourne, city area that knows of places that will fix for REASONABLE cost?

All help appreciated.

So it turns on, but turns off after a second or so?

Put it in the charger overnight. It might come back to life. (has happened to a few people).

Thats all I can think of, maybe you could give HP a tech call.

try a hard reset?

hold the power button down and then press the soft reset button, hold bout bout 5-10secs i think, though this procedure could be different on your model

For the 5XXX (updated 3XXX) series a hard reset is down by holding down the two outer buttons and pressing the soft reset button.

Wouldn't believe my luck. Took it to Mobile Phone Repairer who said. Nah, don't fix them. Just by chance what's wrong with it mate. Showed him the dropped area, say's "let me pull the back cover off and see if anythings broken." comes back and it's working.

Thanks mate. Have a nice day.

Awesome.

Thanks for all your help anyway. Now I just have to figure out how to use it.
