Default Lian Li + BA = Huge Grill minus 3 x 5.25" drive bays

Hi All,
Got some pics of my bitch-slapped Lian Li PC61 in an attempt to get a BA rad+shroud and 2 120mm fans mounted in the top drive bays. I'm trying to acheive this, whilst still keeping the top drive bays useable for my MO LCD and possbly a hacked up Vantec Nexus fan controller (i'm not sure if I want the manual fan controls of the nexus or the ease of install of the MO). I also didn't want to take the easy route of just cutting 2 120mm holes and installing a couple of pre-cut grills. IMHO, that looks plain, and everyone has already done it, that's where the custom grille comes in

It's still a work in progress so I will update the thread when some more pics come to hand.

This was taken before half of the chassis was hacked out (see below) to get the top fitting properly after the grille was mounted.

Here you can see my leet texta skills, matched with some nice dremel handy work.

Here is the new grille on the top up close, sorry about the flash. The mesh is chrome ricer grill that you see installed in the front skirts of supra's/skylines and all the other ricer cars, it's pretty shiny.

This is the underside of the grille, you can see why I had to hack the chassis out to get it all fitting back in place.

I'm still undecisive on how I will finish the grille on top. The Mrs thinks I should paint the grill and rivets black so it's not as visible. I actually quite like the chrome rivets (as they match the window rivets perfectly) but I'm still considering painting the mesh. What do you guys reckon?

The final pic is of the chassis with a second 80mm fan hole (but hey, who hasn't done this to their Lian Li?). It's not really visible in the photo, but the tray still needs to be cleaned up a bit more.

I hope to have some pics of the mounted rad and shroud over the next few days. Every thing has been test fitted and all goes into place, but I haven't got the pics yet.

I'd appreciate comments and feedback...

Russ.

Looks smick.

Thought about having that grill anodized? There are some DIY articles on the net... can get some very nice looking results.

Yeah, thought about it, lots of hassel thou. Now that I think about it, I might leave the grill chrome and polish the rest of the chassis up a bit (to make it shinier) so it matches the grille better.

Been a bit lazy lately, still no pics. I picked up my new rad from coventries, it's slightly different from my old one, so I think I might need to remake the shroud

More, pics very soon.
