ive had a 68.5cfm delta before, and i found that overpowering in the noise department.. but these temps are beyond a joke.. and the heatsink is sitting correctly, as i touched it before.. now my finger hurts

what would be a good way of deadening sound in the case til i work out how to wire up a switch without killing my cpu/board/self?
High temperature - big deal! Does it crash? Is it in any form unstable? Do you get funny burning smells and explosions? No? Then why bother?

7V switch for a fast fan? Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of getting a faster fan in the first place? You're going to switch the noise of a fast fan down by decreasing the speed at which it runs, which will hurt its performance. Sounds like a waste of money if you ask me...

actually yes, it is unstable on hot days.. which is why im doing this. several times i have had hardlocks, program crashes etc... which is really annoying when you are typing up schoolwork, and word decides to crash. playing games, and having them crash.. really annoying.

That's fair enough. I'm just tired of seeing people complain about temperatures simply because they don't like the number being displayed when the temperature doesn't affect the stability of the machine at all.

Out of curiousity, what motherboard are you using?

It's a hot day here today - 37°c reported motherboard temperature. I'm watercooled, with the case side off, and very few bubbles in the system. What's the CPU core temperature according to my A7V266-E? 58°c. Yeah, bullshit it is. My board is a minimum of 10 degrees out... stupid thing. But I have no way to calibrate it which is a pain.

My Soltek Mobo posts 54c-55c ALL the time, I could be overclocked to 3902374ghz and it still be 55c.. very confusing.

Perhaps im reading it wrong but there is one which is 40-45c and another 55c and a Aux which is disabled atm..

Ne1 got a URL to Smart Gaurdian mobo software?

but the reasonfor this, is i dont need hardcore cooling on cool days.. on hot days i do.

Idling @ 42 ATM with a Alpha Pal8045/Panaflow 39cfm. Highest temp I have ever had is 47 when running seti and folding on a hot day.

XP1800 @ 139-150 fsb depending how I feel...

Go out to jaycar or similar place and buy some sound deadener. I think $30 worth should do your whole case if its like mine (aopen hx08) that includes the front the sides on the mobo tray (not under the mobo!) and the rear.

It certainly makes a difference!

as for 50cfm sunons, i have no case fan, due to video card fan failing and me putting 80mm sunon case fan on video card
but my temps hardly ever get above 43degrees @ full load.

i do have a few fans sucking out though psu, behind the cpu and behind hdd

It sounds like you need water cooling.
All the money your going to spend on fans and deadering the sound you might as well look into water cooling...

The benifits are Silence and Low temps....
I hate fan noise with a passion!!!!

Go to:
www.silverprop.com
(there in Melbourne)

(p.s. please don't buy the last new complete kit when they bring it out. Cause i'm waiting and I better get one or i'll be a complete nutter...)

absolutely and even more so, because the numbers they/we see are in most cases far away from the real CPU temperature.

Water is harmless if done correctly. 100% leak proof is the clam by most. Just get someone who knows what there doing to help you. You are at the best place!!! OCAU

Tell me this - have you EVER heard of anyone on this forum suffering damage to their watercooled system due to water?
