Default Project: Bandit (Watercooling a PC-60)

Hey guys, I've ordered all my stuff now and slowly getting all the parts together then I will be modding my case to fit the new watercooling parts. I will update this worklog, as I make additions to the case...

Firstly, these are the parts I'm ordering/ordered:
(All prices are an approximate of when bought)

SILVERPROP CYCLONE FUSION HL GPU Block $80

Dangerden Fillerport - 1/2" - Colour Choice $19 (Silver)

3 Meters of TYGON R3603 1/2" ID HOSE per metre ($18) = $54

SWIFTECH MCP-650 12V Pump $149

Polypropylene "T" 1/2" $3.50

Silverprop Silverstorm 4 Radiator (Bought for $80 from forums, pics below)

2 x 120mm Fans ($45 from forums)

Nexus SX chipset cooler with intel clip $80

Cathar's Stormblock G4 (For Socket LGA 775) $125

Other random stuff from bunnings:
$60

I am still up in the air for the best way to go about taking off the top panel for modding. I know i will be dremeling it out to fit the rad/shroud but unsure if i should just remove all my components and dremel with it attached, or if i should go out and buy a pop rivert gun and do it that way...

Pics so far:

Radiator:

http://members.iinet.net.au/~yodaent...andit/rad2.JPG
http://members.iinet.net.au/~yodaent...andit/rad3.JPG

Radiator has a few scratches, I'm probably going to buy some car touch up paint and make sure it looks all good before it goes in

Case in current state:

http://members.iinet.net.au/~yodaent...ndit/case2.jpg
http://members.iinet.net.au/~yodaent...ndit/case3.jpg

Mods done so far:
Bought the PC-65 Window kit, added a huey applique
Cable sleeved (vantec kit) my Antec Truepower 480W

Why watercool this system?
Well, mainly because i have a Prescott LGA775 3ghz, and under load (for example in NFSU2 and HL2) i get temps of around 65-70 Degrees! :O

Any questions or comments or even suggestions are most welcome!

Thanks

sounds good, im doing basically the same thing but with a BIX2 instead

the easiest way to remove the top is to just drill out the rivets, and then you can just replace them with screws.

im going to watch this for sure, i want to see what you do with the case

Well, I went to Bunnings and picked up all the other stuff i needed

(Silver spray paint, hose clamps, bolts, dremel bits, tape, etc and $60 later i was ready to start modding)

My mate and i marked out the cuts needed to be made and called it a night, and left the dremeling for the morning.

Dremel worked a charm on the first hole (top of case for the 120mm) and got halway through the 2nd 120mm hole and the dremel decided to die on me, so mod is in 'Pause' status for now, untill i can get my hands on a dremel :@

Anyone in perth got one and willing to let me borrow it for an hour?

Hey guys,

Did some serious dremeling today, (so the rad and fans can now be inserted/mounted into case)

I still have to file it down a bit so it fits flush, will do that tomorrow or the coming day when my Nexus chipset cooler and G4 storm get here

Here are the pics from today:

(yes, my first time dremeling )

A HUGE thanks to:
DaBeastMaster "The Beast"
for his advice, experience and his help with the tools, etc. on this project
Also to, Maximus666 for his advice, experience and help!

Great to see this mod finally taking shape, and with the help of fellow OCAU members, its great to see a community like this really just gel together and work

Well done mate, that bit of "blind dremmeling" you did was first rate, I couldn't have cut that straight from underneath.

Everyone have a look at the picture which shows the cut for the radiator, the longer half of the bottom cut, he did from underneath, going by the position of the cutting wheel as it extended thru the cut for guidence that cut is not more than 1.5mm from the cutting line at any point! Well done!

This will be a smart looking mod when he is done, although I would have used led fans on top

Default Almost done! *PICS* :D

Hey guys,

After a failed leak test, and much much effort by Maximus666 and myself i finally have my water cooling rig up and running.
It's not 100% finished yet, as i am getting a nexus sx chipset block and fan filetered guards and when i get them ill be using tonix water and blue coolant to get a blue system.

Couple pics so far:

(bad shot, but cbf untill tomorrow getting a proper shot )

(for some reason, this doesn't show up anywhere near as bright as it is in real-life, stupid digital camera)

Hope you enjoy, and comments are most appreciated and any further suggestions

Hope this satisfies some people who thought i wasn't a modder before :P

Great work as the PC-60 does not have a lot of room in the first place.

I had a PC-60 then upgraded to a CoolerMaster WaveMaster case (even less room)

Took about a week working on it almost every day..

I bought a UV Cathode Fan that reacts blue the otherday which really adds alot of light to the case. I get my northbridge waterblock today, so, all going well in a couple of weeks i'll have the final setup ready to showcase
