I know there is a huge difference in the price and stuff. But what I really need it for is UNI. I much prefer to write my thoughts down then to type it. It allows me to arrange things spatially the way I like to think. Pluse the addition of diagrams for data structures and stuch is extremely useful. So my question is which to get, it needs to be able to connect to the net through Wireless. As well as work with excel. and have very good handwriting recognition. I have seen windows ones and that should do me.
So which should I go for. And which particualr model should I be looking into. Thanks PP PS How does one change their name cause I don't think the system worked properly when I made my account.

My advice to you is don't get a Tablet/PDA unless you feel you need one. It will only serve to distract you and the people around your and will most likely reduce your productivity. my 2 cents

The reason I am staying away from the laptop is because of the games. On a PDA what do u have SOlitaire? I laugh at that I don't touch it unless its AAA gaming. PP

paper V technology
for me I find that you will spend equivalent time in organization. pda V tablet (and notebook) I find that tablets are not really that useful. the hand writing is not an advantage over using a keyboard especially if there is one then anyway in comparison to a notebook. A pocket pc is significantly lighter and will be able to stay on for ore better port of the day without recharging. on the other hard it doesn't have the same range of applications that would allow finishing off assignments that a laptop notebook has but you can easily make a sketch as you write. I wrote this on a hx4700 over wifi. |

I know what you mean about losing paper notes, which is why I stopped taking notes

i had the same dilemma as you..but what i did was buy a laptop (non tablet) and a pda..so i bring the extremely mobile pda to uni with a foldable keyboard..jot down my notes and read my lecture notes from it as well..watch videos or play music..or use the gps on it...
and then once i get home..i sync and transfer all my notes from the pda to the laptop and finalise and print anything oh and the good thing about electronic copies over traditional copies of notes is that can easily be distributed, printed and modified at any given notice

ive got a Toshiba Protege 3500 tablet PC that im thinking about selling as i have no use for it now that ive finished school. would you be intrested? ive had a pocket pc as well before (ipaq) and the only thing is that the screen is too small for taking lots of notes regularly. they are awesome for gps etc though :P

Or an oqo or a flipstart. Both of which seem to have advantages to the vaio... personally I'd go the oqo, it has built in usb, you can buy a tiny fold up usb keyboard, and it looks like a pda and can be used like one, while it still has a decent os.
Much better than a chunky tablet pc.
