i don't know about laptops but most desktops that have onboard video cards have the ability to adjust how much system memory to use for video in bios

You don't make sense. You say you want to increase the video memory from 64Mb to something higher, but you also want to add more main memory but don't want more graphics memory????

The built in graphics memory is adjustable to a maximum of 64Mb. There is no point for anymore. Its just a very basic video card and not really good for games.

You can add as much memory as you want but, the maximum allowed allocated to video is 64Mb.

I mean its phsyically possible to add more main memory

but it is not phsyically possible to add more graphics memory

I had the idea of adding enough RAM to max it out (1.2 gb) and then expand the graphics memory to something like 256 mb

Im just curious really. A little more ram in both departments can only help.

Actually I was a little dissapointed with the "Manual" that came with it. In fact all I got was a little book that told me where all the buttons where, a CD (with a very small amount of information, and Win XP installation) a pink piece of paper with the 1 year warranty, and thats it. I have searched google etc, for information about this, but as yet, have found nothing really. Thats why I posted here.

But to answer your question, yeah i did look through the manual.

you can add more RAM so you can max out your shared video memory which can be allocated accordingly in your bios

but you probably cant share more than 64mb of ram memory as graphics card memory..it all depends on your bios features

No point at all in having over 64mb on a shared memory graphics card. Hell if it was me i'd shuv it back to 32mb. Your card is unlikely to be able to play the latest games regardless.

Yeah i was thinking about that too, seeing as i may not want to play games etc its still taking up 64mb of my RAM.

I did manage to get it to play HL2, which i was pretty impressed with. The bios has no such feature btw. Thanks for your help though everyone.
