Default Shuttle SN95G5 V1 or V2?

Hi, Ive got a Shuttle SN95G5 and need to do a BIOS upgrade to get my CPU temps reporting correctly however I dont know how to tell what version it is V1 or V2.. they have different BIOS's and I would rather not flash it with the wrong one..

peal the cover off and see what rev your mobo is. It should be marked just along near the back edge where your vid card sits on the pcb.

Mine is rev 1.3 so the latest bios is the "Q" one. I cant tell ya any other way to distinguish between v1 and v2. I thought I would have a v2 seeing as its only a week old but I got an older revision which Im not totally stoked about.

edit : using winflash I first tried with the latest revision for v2 and it wouldnt allow the flash so I went back and grabbed the "Q" bios and it went on no worries.

Cheers.
I was just about to post i found it
ive done the upgrade to Q now. It seems my memory problems are fixed now (so far at least) ! 2-2-2-5 where as before it had to be 3-3-3-5 or else it would crash.
Mine is only 1.5 weeks old, i was hoping to have a v2 as well ive got a week 44 CPU and 2xweek 45 MEM sticks.. vid card is brand new.. but old rev case/mobo. ah well, no real dramas so far.

I'v got a V1 aswell. The latest bios made a huge change for me in terms of OC. got about another 350mhz stable and can keep my mem @ 1:1 now.

What are the differences with the V2 does anyone know?

my OCing is currently non-existant.. as soon as i go up even to 210Mhz FSB i loose my NIC... i would have guessed that the PCI bus was locked.. obviously not.
Im a bit pissed about it atm..

mine seems locked. In clockgen it says 66.66 33.33 and currently am able to sustain 250htt at 4 x HT comfortably.

Its not locked in clockgen for me.. as HTT goes up the PCI bus does it also. AGP bus is however locked. I can put the FSB speed down.. but not UP, even to 217 it locks hard from in Windows..

Just tried 201MHz from BIOS, boots but Windows says network cable is not connected, it then tries to get a DHCP address (statically assigned) something it up the creek!.

Are there others with SN95G5 that can check if their PCI bus is locked?

hmm. well some more poking around.. I had HT at 5x after my BIOS upgrade. when i stuck it down to 4x PCI bus was locked, like it should be
now using clockgen i can move the FSB and PCI/AGP are static. Much better, now on with the task of overclocking

good luck with it, these shuttles are surprisingly good little performers, shame about the 280htt max though.

any more details SS? I couldn't get mine to go past 2.2ghz until I put the latest bios on it. Once that was done it hits 2.5ghz stable easily.

2.5ghz?? holy crap

anyway, i'm using a 3000+ amd64 (.13 micron), 2 x 512mb kingston value ram.

its not the ram because i've tried relaxing the timings, using a lower divider etc and the max cpu voltage i used was 1.65

Actually, now that i think about it, it could be heat because i'm running the cpu fan on 'low'

Well, my SN95G5 rev 1.3 might turn into a ver 2.0 if my luck changes.

Its RMA time for this little black duck. Was just sitting surfing and uploading a file to my webspace when it just shut off, like a reset and sat there with the fan spinning and doing SFA else. After an afternoon of attempted ressurection, I now lay it to sleep for the RMA gods to take its soul and try to breathe new life into it.

FARK im annoyed.

I am lucky I guess in that I hadnt hacked the shit out of it to throw my watercooling gear into it as my pump is still holding me up.
