Default Soltek Qbic EQ3705A

Hi, I noticed Pluscorp are selling these for $295 and was wondering if anyone has one?

I tried Googling, but I wasn't able to find any reviews. The link Pluscorp have it is pretty useless, doesn't have any internal photos etc.

Does anyone know if the motherboard has good overclocking features?

Thanks

From what I've heard, the PSU's in the Soltek SFF boxes are woefully inadequate; but hey I dont own one.

Yeah, I know it's only 250w but I didn't have any problems with my old Shuttle SN45G, which was only 200w or 220w.

I am unsure of whether to keep waiting for a 2nd hand Shuttle to pop up, or buy one of these.

Meh, ordered one Friday afternoon. Will post a few pic when it arrives and I have installed everything. Trying to find out what is the best HSF which will fit in it. Only problem is it does not have onboard SATA, so I will need to source a PATA hard drive.

Had no problem with the 250W in mine.
For the record it runs the usual shit (CPU & Mobo) plus 2 HDDs, Pioneer 108 and a 9700 Pro.

Yay, finally someone who owns one. Hopefully you can answer a few questions for me!

Have you replaced the stock HSF? If so, what are you using in it?

I know it holds 2x5.25" drives and 2x3.5" drives, do you know if both the 3.5" bays are mounted sideways, or is it only the bottom one?

Thanks if you can help me out!

Hi Click Head,

I don't own that exact model, but the case appears to be identical in construction and layout.

It does hold 2 x 5.25 drives and 2 x 3.5 drives with the bottom one sideways, the 250W PSU in mine is currently running an Athlon 64 3000+ with a GeForce 6600GT, DVD Burner and 2 x 200Gb SATA Hdd's without a problem.

Hope this info helps.
Cheers,
Ben.

Thanks, I will get a 5.25" -> 3.5" bracket so I can mount a hard drive in the bottom 5.25" bay, that way I won't have to worry about twisting the IDE cable around, should help keep the case tidy.

Still haven't been able to find out what HSF people use in them.

I use the stocko HSF, it runs everythign just fine, having said that, I am not overclocking the system although I am confident I could to some degree with the stock HSF.

SFF TECh Is a site with a bit of info as well as a soltek rep who has a bit of feed back

just got one myself yet to find time to set it up !

Really not much diffence between 3705 and 3702 they use the same mobo just go to the soltek site and you can compare the different qbics side by side
hope this helps
