Default Laptop Onboard Graphics?

G'day All,

Currently looking for a laptop for my sister. Basically shes a journalist, but she wants something for home use and maybe to take around to work on occasions.

I haven't had any experience with laptops, so i hope you guys can help me out here.

All she really wants the laptop for is for word processing (Microsoft Office etc), and similar programs. The budget is between $2000-$3000, but I'm sure the lower, the better.

Currently I've been looking at the Toshiba TECRA A2 Centrino 1.5GHz NoteBook ($2399)

Quote:
PROCESSOR: Intel Pentium M Processor 1.5GHz, 400MHz FSB, 1MB L2
STORAGE: 60GB capacity (4200rpm); DVD-+ RW Multi Optical drive
MEMORY: 512MB PC2700 DDR333 expandable to 2GB
DISPLAY: 15" TFT Active Matrix XGA 1024x768 resolution
VIDEO: Intel 855GME UMA, 16-64MB (Dynamic Video Memory Allocation),
COMM: V.90/V.92 data + fax modem; Intel ICH4-M intgd LAN 10/100 TX E'net
Integrated Intel 802.11b/
EXPANSION: Parallel, RGB, 2 USB 2.0, modem, LAN, Expansion Bus
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP1
POWER: 6 cell 4400mAh Lithium-Ion battery; Upto 4Hrs battery life
SLOTS: 1 x Type II PC card slots,
AUDIO: AC'97 Software Sound; Stereo speakers
AUDIO PORTS: Headphone port, microphone port
WEIGHT: From 2.7kg
This looks exaclty something that would suit her, however I'm alittle worried about the onboard video. Anyone used laptops with onboard video before? I'd really like something that could handle a game or two (Sims 1/2, WC3, Q3A kinda graphics).

Thanks

If you want to be able to play games on the laptop, im afraid you may have to look at a dell with at least a 9600 graphics card. Dont get me wrong, we have a few of the tecra's at work and they aare great sturdy laptops, but they arent for gaming.
