Hi guys,
Just wondering if anybody can push me in the direction of an easy to use, yet effective online photo album. Because my family lives all over the country i would like to be able to give them access to the web album. I would prefer if i could password protect the access, but i guess this is not necessary. I will be using my ISP web space as the host. Regards. |

http://photobucket.com
Does everything you're looking for, only downside is pictures are limited to 250kb in size It hosts your images for you so you don't need your own webspace.

arles
Simple, Easy gallery creator. You just point it at a directory full of the photo's and it will do the rest. http://www.digitaldutch.com/arles/ One of the best little tools I have come across. It was recommended to me by Dinic. |

Might be helpful if you advise what sort of hosting you have...do you have access to PHP/ASP, SWL/MySQL, etc ,etc ?

![]() ![]() Arles is good, very powerful and simple. Alternatively you can try Gallery , if your server supports php. Dna

I'm working on a simple gallery system myself. I already have a fairly simple version running on my own site(s).
At the moment it's basic features are: - unlimited category levels - auto thumbnail creation - admin panel with add/edit/delete for both category's and images - php / mysql I'll be working on the project more and more and hope to release a downloadable version in the comming weeks. But at the moment it isn't really ready to be used on other sites.

I've used Arles and Gallery ... depends if you want to update pages, or if they're likely to be static. Arles is totally client-side, so if you want to update something (like add a photo to a page) you need to regenerate and re-upload the new page (and pics if they get renamed/renumbered), whereas Gallery is server-side, so it does all that work (inc resizing/etc) for you, you just upload a new pic and it rearranges everything, creates the new pages, etc on the server. I personally think Gallery is the better option, if you want to put in the time to configure it. It's also open source (free).
I haven't used Jalbum, but I believe it works much the same as Arles?? Last edited by Gibbon; 14th January 2005 at 10:30 PM. |

I use Darwinonline. 200 meg limit but I'm nowhere near that yet and you can upload large pictures.
