Default X11-6.8.1 - Anyone else get cought out?

Thought I might post this in case someone else had the same problem...

I decided to swaret --upgrade on my slack 10 box because I hadn't done it for ages. I had x11-6.7.0 installed (default with slack10) and all was well. The upgrade installed 6.8.1, which caused me to get an error about the keyboard driver not being able to be found.

After much heartache (swapping between 6.7 and 6.8, trying to get the nvidia driver install to work again, libXfixes.so.3 errors...) I finally worked out the problem: the keyboard driver used by 6.8.1 seems to be 'kbd', not 'keyboard' as used by 6.7.

Was anyone else caught out by this? Or am I just lucky?

Ben

I read about this 'problem' before I upgraded so I wasn't caught out.

Moved from 6.7.X to 6.8.X a short while back in Gentoo, and didn't have the problem you mention.
