Can't communicate with ident on port 113?

Just reformated my computer with windows xp, and although I was hoping it would solve my ident problem, it still hasn't. I need to use ident to access many of the ftp sites I'm a member of.
Does anyone know how I can enable ident?

any chance you're firewalled? you may also have to forward the necessary port to your machine's IP if behind NAT.
