Default Ipaq HX4700

Well its getting to the time I need to upgrade from my aging Ipaq 2210 and was looking at this model as a suitable replacement. How many people here have one and what are your thoughts on it? I was thinking it was the better of the VGA PDA's as it has a 4" screen. Still I havnt been keeping too up to date with hardware stuff lately *Shakes fist at WoW* So is this still a good choice? Going prices seem to be around 850-950$

I've got one and I love it. The 4" screen is phenominal, and its just so fast!

Umm, not sure what else to say. Its the most expensive of its kind, but personally I really think it was worth the money. Any questions, I'm happy to answer

Its quite good, but annoying for games like Worms - it only detects a press as a single press and doesn't "repeat" the press, so it doesn't know you're holding the button down to shoot further! Might just be a bug in the version of Worms I've got though.

Best PDA I've used though thats including the XDA's etc..

Thanks for the advice guys and now I have a HX 4700 thanks to pluscorp, so far it is working great and the larger screen in wonderful however being much more newer then my 2210 it has some compatiability problems with older programs but thats not too bad the one thing that irks me is I had all my video files encoded at 320x240 speifically for full screen res on my 2210 now running these files on my 4700 it does not full screen them just plays them in a tiny window do I need to make videos in 640x480 res now or is there a media player that will just stretch the clips to fullscreen for me?

There are a handfull of media players. Just test them. Also you can try running the ipaq in 240x320 mode. I am not sure how to do this on a 4700 but I think it is possable.

What price did you end up paying for the 4700 ?

If you download a program called Betaplayer (its free), its probarbly the best media player for PDA's.

*Sighs...* They are just not built like the old series like the 2210 and of course 4150/4350 and the 5 Series... IMO (even if I'm late to the party) I'm not a fan. Don't feel they are as well made, although screen is much better however have seen problems with them just within, or outside warranty...

Take care of it, and it should do you well - I don't *think* you will get the same life span out of this one as you did your 2210 but...

Edit: Don't quote me, I think repairs are done in Sydney - HP make the customer pay for it unless the retailer is prepared to foot the bill...
