They had a better sale on about 2-3 weeks ago.

33% off and free upgrade to the 6800. Plus they also had a $300 coupon you could use. It was about a 2k+ saving.

Dont buy one.

I bought one during their $1300 off + free 6800go video upgrade sale, and the screen is absolutely abysmal. I'm currently in the process of sending it back for refund.

Tragically, it's capable of getting a score of 4850 in 3dmark05, only to be let down with a panel that gives you a splitting headache if you have to look at it for more than a few minutes.

I got the 17" WUXGA glossy screen and it's brilliant - makes my Toshiba Tecra M2 screen look positively last generation.

Why did you return it, you should have just got a screen replacement.

Dell isnt offering me a screen replacement, no matter how many times I make the hint. 3 support plebs and 2 managers have told me that any replacement screen is going to have exactly the same 'features' as my current panel.

My model number/EDID are K9975/LPL0000 respectively.

It's sparkly, has terrible uniformity, backlight leakage, and the colour accuracy is dreadful. Plus it buzzes on all but two backlight settings.

Dell has decided that they dont want to play nice, and replace my panel with a non-buzzing J9662/LPL0000, K9975/SEC5557 or K9922/SEC5557, so I'm sending my machine back for refund. Well, I will be, when they get around to returning my calls.
