Default Small laptops

I was in the uni computer room the other day, and there was this japenese girl in there with a heaps small laptop. It looked to be about 9-10 inch wide. The screen looked to be a bit wider than the height. I think it was a pc running xp? Would any of you guys know what this would be and is it possible to get one here in australia?

No, but if you know someone going to Akihabara, you might be able to get them to pick one up for you.

I'm trying to decide between the Panasonic R3, Sony Vaio X505, Fujitsu P-7000 or a JVC MP-XP741 for my next machine. How about I get two, and sell you the one I dont like.

The keyboard is useful when I have the chance to sit down and use it. Swivelling it is pretty cool as well. I was blown away by the U-Series when I first saw it but it looks a bit like a big digital camera

I bought a second-hand Toshiba Libretto L2 in Japan; very light but the Transmeta processor isn't a powerhouse. Good enough for Office and the Internet tho.

Current models worth a look: 1 2

This place used to import similar but it doesn't look like they've updated their site recently.

Not in the last year, from the models they are peddling.

For thoes who are wondering about the Dell X1, i just got off the phone and got this price, they don't have prices mentioned on their website.

Dell X1 ( XP PRO, 512mb ram, DVD Burner, BlueTooth, WLAN )
30gb Hard Drive $2978
60GB Hard Drive $3048

Including GST and Delivery

Thats not bad, I was looking at the Sony X505, but it doesn't have any type of cd/dvd drive builtin and the screen is very small, price was not to bad ~$2700AUD to Australia.

Decisions, Decisions

EDIT: Bugger spoke to soon, the Dell doesn't have a builtin DVD drive

i just got an asus m5200n...little bit bigger at 12' on the screen

but only weighing 1.55kgs

$2600 with a longer life battery and 512 ram.

it's only problem so far is the fan seems a little sensitive, and likes to ramp up at (virtually) nothing.

so i'm just going to get some headphones and go from there...*grin*
