Whats with the extremely loose timings? 2.5-7-7-11 @ 200MHz?!

You don't need to do that when you're just upping the multi...

Well that's just it, i can't keep it stable at any tighter timings for some reason at that clock.

I might clock down to 11x200 and use tighter timings. Unless i have dodgey ram too!

If you're having problems running your RAM at those specs @ 200FSB, I'd say that's also hindering your efforts to overclock.

If you're considering making the $$ investment on a new HSF, try pointing a desk fan at the case internals, and try overclocking then. If you're successful, more/better cooling is required.

Or you could just leave the desk fan there... lol.

Put the ram on a divider to eliminate it from being the limiting factor

i got exactly the same CPU, i manage to get 200x12 prime stable. that's with 1.775 volts through it though.

temps are pretty shocking

idle: 53
load: 75

Reduce Vcore and buy an another heatsink!
What's your room temp?
In summer your CPU will fry...

Xm....
Take a look for 2600+ tutorial (click on my sign)..

no it won't... 1.775v is nothing for an xp chip... with my old xp chip... 1.775ghz could get me 2.6ghz , and i didn't need to have a mega beast to cool it...

most extreme people would run xp-m's at 2.05-2.1v with phase change, and 1.95-2.0v with water. i could get mine to 2.7xghz with 1.875v, but my SFF's PSU wasn't good enough to sustain that (kept cutting off the power, but it was stable for sure). gosh that's a year ago now... good memories...

Wait a minute:
As you can read here is a Vcore poll many users of this forum do not overvoltage their CPUs...
OK sample is small.
As about me LOL I set teravolt but my CPU is watercooled.
Last summer I fried a Barton (after two months L2 was 64K --> became Duron LOL)...

Anyway my opinion is above.

u can't compare an xp chip with other CPU's... imo that poll isn't too good... it should specific and divided into classes...

regardless - you will find that 1.775volts is nothing for a barton chip. Most people would be willing to run this even on slightly-above-average air cooling, ie spire whisperrock or vantec aeroflow, etc... whereas owners of SP/SI-97's and SLK900s/volcano 12's would happily run 1.85+ volts... and high end watercooling ppl would definitely be willing to run up to 1.95-2.0v...

you can't look at the majority of people - because majority of people don't overclock - but the people who DO... would certainly be running their bartons at 1.75v and above without feeling worried at all - that's the point i'm trying to make...

i've owned (SADLY) 11 socket A chips in my time... and none have been running any less than 1.7v (not to mention stock vcore on tbirds was a crazy 1.85v), haha... most of them were run 1.85-1.90v at all times... none of them suffered from poor temps nor death

Did someone say 1.9-2v?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...th/2433mhz.jpg

I'd think tha M would do better than my XP chip, but again, cooling and 'bad chips' can make lots of difference

groovetek it is impossible to divide a poll into many classes....
I would like to have a general idea....
Otherwise we must open a poll for Thunderbirds, other one for Bartons etc....
And this is boring...

Of course many Bartons can run without problems with Vcores <= 1.75 but any user should have a better cooling not stock heatsink fan.

Melkor1337 I always run last year my XP 2200+ and 3 Bartons (2500+, 2600+, 2800+) with Vcores > 1.95.....
But I said above I fried 2500+
