Anyone know the equivalent processor power of a Centrino/Pentium M 1.8 to a P4 chip ?

As a rough estimate it would be close to a 2.6Ghz P4 chip.

Ive been looking into getting this exact same deal from the same store. Everything seems ok but the deal just seems a little 'too' good, and as we all know, when buying something off the internet if it seems too good to be true then it usually is.

The store is more than happy for me to buy it and they will ship it internationally. The warranty is international so if anything goes wrong then I can just take it to Acer Australia to get fixed. I checked the UK business register and this mob has been around for nearly 3 years. Here are some of the dodgy things about the deal however

a) They dont accept credit cards, all payments (even in the UK) have to be made via a direct deposit into the store owners account. This is to keep costs down apparently.

b) They quoted me the same price for postage as they would to someone in England (14 pounds). They say they can do this because they have been using their courier for a long time and they offer them special deals.

c) This notebook is fresh onto the market, only been out for a month or 2. Why the hell would they discount it down to 650 pounds from 1050 pounds.

All sounds a bit too dodge for me. Im still waiting to hear back from them about whether they will let my friend in the UK pay for it in cash and pick it up (doubt they do pickup). Tis a shame because this notebook goes for around $3500 here in Oz and with all the conversions, taxes, postage, 2 year warranty, bank fees it would have come to approx $1850 from this mob.

Is there a general rule to convert Pentium M to P4 speeds?

Or just add 800mhz to whatever the Pentium M chip is?

These guys who I bought the laptop off haven't answered their phone, e-mails or faxes for 3 days.

I am assuming their customer service guy is off sick or something.

But its shitting me up the wall.

Also, they haven't updated my order as having recieved the money. The money has definately left my account.
