Default Laptop Gfx cards?

Guys, can anyone point me in the right direction? I wanna get a laptop, but its gotta have a decent gfx card. I have searched here and there for the gfx comparison for laptops but havent found anything.

On a quicker note for those that cant help that, does anyone know if the ati mobility 9700 is better than the mobility x600?

Thanks...

I don't think the X600 is faster than the 9700, but I could be wrong.

I too would like some comparative data between the mid to high range graphics cards between the nVidia and ATi offerings (eg. Go6600 vs X700 etc).

Anyway, you might be able to make something out of the following: http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle....rtno=98&pgno=0

Check out Alienwares laptop systems here: http://www.alienwaresystems.com.au

May be a bit pricey though.... also, go to www.dell.com.au and price up some laptops...they have ati x300 & 600 aswell as nvidias 6800 go in the i9300

edit: use this link http://www.shopsafe.com.au/ValuedMer...uters_Dell.htm
And you can get a 9300 with nvidia 6800go, 1gb ram for 2,581.70 inc. GST taking advantage of dell's $1000 off deal and using a $400 off coupon from below... better bang for the buck that alienware... I think today is the last day for the $1000 off and free upgrade to 1gb ram..

I know that Radeon X300 is classed as a mid range Notebook graphics card.

Is it much better than the Standard Intel Graphics graphics chipsets.

Looking at the Dell Ispiron 6000 with the X300 and 1 gig ram for $1897

It's a lot better than Intel GMA.

There's a 3dmark05 thread on notebookforums. I'm not sure how representative the numbers are of actual games performance.

Most games should play on an X300 and 9600pro just fine. You can pretty much forget playing BF2 on anything less than a 6600go though.

OK thanks.. Ordered myself a Dell Inspiron 6000 which comes with 1 gig RAM 64 Meg Radeon X300 / DVD RW / Centrino 1.6 and a 15.4" SXGA TFT

Dont intend on hardcore gaming on it. Thats what my desktop is for.
