Thumbs up Pentium D 3.2 EE@4.4

Overclocking results with

840EE (3.2 Ghz)
Voltage 1.45 volt (CPU-Z screenshot is of course wrong)
P5WD2
DDR2 4200 3-3-3
aircooled (not Intel stock)

The system is of course not stable at 4.16.

yes, a shown 4.16 GHz. I tried with my entry level water cooling kit: no difference. Maybe I could squeeze out 50 MHz more, but that would probably "corrupt" XP.

Almost 1 GHz on top is anway far better than what I expected from such a already "high" clocked dual core processor. I thought I would end up with 600 MHz.

sure, I am folding, the first screen shot is taken with 2 instances running. In that case the processor is only 50%. If you have 4 instances running it's 100%.

Intel dual core processors will be available in AUS within May, probably next week.

i was convinced chainbolt is going AMD dual core..... i guess not...nice OC...what's it stable at....i wish AMD do something on the prices otherwise my next PC will be Intel....hell that's why we started buying the bastards.....Synnex is listing Dual Core Intel CPUs already but not stocked......so shouldn't be too much longer there......I hate OCAU....you've infected me with a permanent "upgrade bug"....now i want to go get the damn thing cause who knows how long AMD DC will take to trickle in Australia and at what price

To avoid any misunderstanding I posted a pic of the set-up, as you can see the board is not installed in a case, and I have aircon running because it's summer here and getting hot. My temps are therefore not representative for "common" usage.

The system is idling at around 40C. Keep in mind that the 8xx series has the full array of temp reducing stuff implemented, TT2, EIST and C1. In idle or low load the 8xx series dual core procs run actually cooler than a first generation Prescott. The problem is full load. In that case EIST (speed step) does not work anymore. If I "fold" with 4 instances, that brings the processor to constant 100% load (means worst case scenario), I'm at 71C with aircooling. It would be probably 75C when the board is installed in case.
