Arrow Watercooling the Lian-Li V1000B

I set out on this project with a few things in mind. Firstly, the case should be sleek. So many cases these days have flashing lights and all sorts of control knobs. I wanted simple. I wanted a case with style. The obvious choice was a Lian-Li, black for sleek factor. The V1000 is a perfect case for water-cooling, with the case divided into 2 sections. Makes choosing rad placement a breeze.
Another thing to keep in mind was to use all my existing water-cooling components. Spending $280 on a second-hand case doesn't leave much in the current PC budget. The important parts in terms of case modding and placement are the Eheimn 1250, and my silverprop silverstorm3.
I'll give some more details later and as they are requested, but fo now here are some pics
Here it is with the case sides off:

And with the drive cages removed by drilling out the rivets:

The idea with Radiator placement was to have air being sucked through the rad on the base of the case (the wheels give a bit of clearance from the floor) out the front where a 120mm fan is mounted, and also out through the PSU.
Base of the case marked up (incorrectly-fixed before cutting):

And here we are after attacking a very expensive case with a jigsaw

...front wheels back on:

(also note the detail bottom right in the drive cage. What could that be for?)

Well that is where I am up to. Progress has been and will continue to be pretty slow. Stay tuned for updates.

I want to see how you mount the hdds, especially if you can reuse the drive bay and how to easily mount it elsewhere.

Just a quick update:
I've made the relay for the pump. Its giong to be mounted on the back of the case in a small jiffy box.

Cant wait to see what you do. I was thinking about putting a water cooled setup in the same case. I would love to see your results.

Default Update Time!

Last night I got around to mounting teh rad as well as laying the "noise reducing" foam. I don't expect the foam to do a thing in terms of noise, but it made the rad mount air-tight, as well as covering the hundreds of holes on the base of the V1000. This is essential to my design.
Rad mounted:

And finally a shot of the base:

You can see the thickness of the foam in the last pic.

In case you couldn't figure it out from the pics, I plan on having air drawn through the rad by the front intake fan (now reversed to be a out-hole) and the PSU fan. This of course will require the bottom chamber to be relatively air tight.

Coming soon: relay and pump installation.

Man, thats perfect! Just what i had in mind. I am still a bit worried about the case's structural support - does removing the drive bays make the case bend/sag at all?

Do you think there would be room in the front of the case for the thermochill PA 160.1? i am looking at getting this case and standing one up at the front if it fits, i would really appreciate if you could check for me please . good work so far, you got a nice clean cut at the bottom there... good job

I think you'd need a little adjustment for the standard shroud to fit, you'd have to drop the front fan down a bit. Not sure about the height aswell.
The cuts on the were made with a jigsaw mounted on a router table. The guide on the table meant I could get nice straight cuts, except for teh one closest to the center of the case which was done "freehand". The mesh makes it easier to get a straight cut too.
