Angry Wine - is it just me (Winamp) ?

Is it just me or is wine, incredible slow and look crap, and most of the time, just not do what its told.

I am trying to run WinAMP, but the media library won't open, I cant open AAC files, the skins arn't properly working and it generally will not respond and never can be left alone otherwise it crashes, is anyone else getting this problem ??

Why are you using WinAMP under wine? Seems crazily stupid to me.

Anyway, I run World of Warcraft unde wine, so no, it doesn't run slow. Or look crap. And it does do what it's told generally.

Alternatives...

(1) Isn't there a Linux version of WinAMP?

(2) Isn't there a third-party WinAMP clone on Linux?
I recall the WinAMP skins work on this...Well, my "hot chick collection" ones do.

I don't think xmms is crap, your opinion was duly noted and discarded.
Xmms has its place as a pure audio player, it is light and quick, and not the bloatware that winamp had become. But winamp has its place to as a nice audio and video player for windows with the best playlist for video.
I might have to check out winamp for linux steakthemoocow as some people seem to be deaf to your pleadings... You sure it doesn't install spyware :P

Its V3... so its entirely possible you'll get MS plugins installed onto your *nix box (hahaha, good luck at it finding C:\program files\internet explorer\)...

um, there are a few copies floating around the net, just google for it

I used it back when it came out... I'm an XMMS fan... but now my main AMD64 (FX-55, 2gb Corsair RAM, 4x120GB HDD's) is a WinXP box I don't use anything but Winamp atm... (meh, the FX-55 can handle the bloatware that is windows)...

I must say though, Fedora has one upside. Its bloat free (if you don't install X11 that is)... I'll stick to Debian, BSD and LFS though...
