I tried everything from moving the reciever to playing around with software settings and plugging it into USB/PS/2/both.

One person said that some wireless devices suffer from high CPU load or something so I decided to see if that could be the problem. As you can see in my sig my comp is a p.o.s and the mobo only supports usb1.1 and agp 4x lol. I tried the MX3100 on my brothers P4 2.7ghz with a newer MSI mobo and the only time I noticed any lagging was in the middle of a few smoke grenades in CS, so I thought maybe the cpu is contributing. The interesting thing was that there was no lagging at all in UT2004 on his computer even with max settings and tonnes of bots to stress the CPU. Perhaps it has something to do with direct3d (ut2004) and opengl (cs)....

In conclusion there was no obvious defect with the actual MX3100 product and it is obviously due to some factor on my old computer whether its CPU or motherboard or what. I'm going to keep it for when I get my new comp but I thought i'd share my experience with others who aren't too happy about their new spanking new rip off of a mouse/kb set

I'm thinking maybe the USB 1.1 is a factor... I've had the MX3100 for a week or so now, and coming from a Logitech corded keyboard have no problems with it. I can get it to lag a little by random bashing heaps of keys, and when doing so, it seems to DROP quite a lot of keypresses in comparison with a corded keyboard.
However, in normal typing and in gaming (tried UT2004 and HL2), I haven't noticed any problems or lag at all. (BTW, I do have a fairly tasty rig with A64 3500+ so my CPU shouldn't be bottlenecking)

Specs of my machine are as follows:

CPU = P4 530 (3.0ghz, LGA775, 800mhz FSB).
Mobo = Gigabyte GA-8I915P Duo Pro (i915 Chipset, DDR1/DDR2)
RAM = 512mb Corsair XMS3700.

This machine is totally stock, with no overclocking.

2600+, abit nf7-s, 1 gig ram.

i'm using it in the usb port now, but i had the same problem when using the ps2 ports. it also occasionally doesn't seem to read when i'm trying to hold down a second key. (eg for ctrl-c or ctrl-alt-del)

Hmm if you're having similar problems godzilla with a faster cpu then perhaps nitro is right, maybe USB1.1 is too slow for the MX3100 or something. Guess I'll have to wait until i get a new mobo.

I'd say that'd be wise. But, my MX3100 is connected via both PS2 ports, and it works fine.

Odd. Very odd.

mine was worse using the ps2 ports, to the extent where it wasn't even reading some of my keystrokes at all.

i have a P3 1ghz and im using usb 1.1. I dont think the cpu has anythign to do with it cuz i tried key bashing and stuff in a document to see if the cpu usage thing would go up in task manager but it stayed the same. IS PS/2 better than usb or is it the other way around? Has anyone tried usb 2 vs usb 1.1?

i got one of these have since taken it back for a exchange.. the keyboard was absolutely shocking. lagging in games and not performing CTRL+C where the main issues. also when u press a key it would either do it once, five times or not at all!.

Luckily i bought it from EB so went and traded it for a MX1000 mouse and Rider Racer DS

For me it's the mouse as well, not just the keyboard. From what I can tell there's nothing wrong with the actual product because it's fine on my brother's fast computer (with USB 2.0 also).

i also get this very similar problem.
sometimes when im typing letters dont pop up or when i type in one particular letter a whole row of them pop up. ive tried moving my cordless digital phone and that didnt work. you guys also suggested it might be my speakers, but ive got them all over my table! [5.1]

this is really annoying and have read somewhere that i can find a patch to fix this problem up?

I dont get any lag at all. Although I got shitloads when logitech security was on. Turn it off and see how you go.

Well I might as well give a follow-up to my trial and error efforts to get the keyboard and mouse responding like it should. Contrary to my previous post, my MX3100 desktop is running great and I have no regrets buying it.

The lag problems turned out to be nothing to do with my motherboard or the PS/2 or USB connections. It was a mixture of problematic drivers and bad reception. First things first, install the latest SetPoint v2.40 drivers from the Logitech site. They seemed to reduce the delay. The biggest contributing factor was actually the distance and interference with the receiver dock. Originally I had it about 30cm from the mousepad and 45cm from the keyboard on the right of my case. Apparently this is too far for it to work properly, so by moving it in between my monitor and case on my desk (its now about 17cm from my mouse and 20cm from my keyboard) it has cleared up all of my problems. The only reason I made this silly mistake in the first place was the misleading instruction pamphlet that came with the MX3100 kit. It instructs you to not place the receiver dock within 20cm of any electrical devices. That is absolute crap and I know have mine within 5cm of my monitor and case and it works fine. The key factor is the distance between the keyboard and mouse.

For people who can type excessively large amounts of words per minute, you have to understand that since it is wireless, there will be delay no matter what. For me I don't notice it because I can't type fast enough for it to be a problem but there's definitely no lagging in games now or anything. Hopefully you folks can get yours working too

No it is when "Security" is enabled in Logitech Settings (ie. Setpoint) if it is enabled click on enable or test (iirc) and when it asks you to enter in the "passcode" press ESC and exit it to disable security. It DOES make it lag.
