Is such a device readily available in Australia? I'm looking for a light switch with an IR port so it can be controlled with a remote control, will this be extremely over priced or in the 'bearable' range? I did a search on this and was surprised I couldn't find any topics on this, I thought it'd be a somewhat popular question to ask in a home theatre forum.
Cheers. |

Jaycar used to sell them, I think I saw one in my 2002 Catalogue. Might be worth checking them out.
Well, it's in the 2002 Catalogue "Touch and/or Remote Controlled Light Dimmer" $69.95. Catalogue number KC-5324. The remote is sold seperately (AR-1703 or AR-1710). I can scan this page if you like.

i have one in my room that is HPM brand. it was already in the house when we moved in but i have a feeling i've seen them at the local hardware store and they weren't too expensive. maybe give HPM a call.
mine has the touch panel on the wall as well as the remote. one button press or touch of the panel is on/off. if you hold it down it dims. its great

yeah that looks like an updated version of what i have. the remote is the same but the silver touch panel covers the almost whole thing, not just a small section.
its very cool. every house i live in from now on will have one in the bedroom

I looked around the site but I couldn't find it.I found the light dimmer in the 2003 Jaycar catalogue and searched for the catalogue number on the website with no luck, but then I saw this at the end of the product info: "Limited Quantity" So I'm guessing they were the left overs from 2002. I didn't get any luck here early on, maybe everyone on the forums had gone interstate for a bit Anyway, I asked about this on Whirlpool and got some interesting info: http://www.eon3.com/content/products...intProductID=2 That product might do the job, but then I saw this product and it looks great and uses IR: http://www.cleverhome.com.au/product...o-switch.shtml But I also found these: http://www.cleverhome.com.au/product...n-switch.shtml http://www.cleverhome.com.au/product...oducts2005.pdf It looks like their controlled by radio and not IR, but they also sell a device which converts from IR to radio. Yeah they sure do look good, but no prices.... by the looks of it they'd be very expensive. |

I recently bought one of those kits from altronics (the one from SC with remote/dimmer). I've tested it out on 12v but gotta wait for an electrician to put it in
Works from my palmtop though. My only gripe is that there is no remote on button (you have to dim it up).link http://www.altronics.com.au/index.as...=item&id=K6030
