V600 camera problems

i just aquired a motorola v600, (it isn't stolen) and have realised that the camera doesn't work. basically, if i take a picture, its black. if i turn up the brightness level, its bright black, and changing the setting between indoor/outdoor/auto does nothing.
if anyone has any ideas as to why this may be happening and how to correct the problem, short of finding profssional type people to fix it.

im not considering taking the phone back and abusing the previous owner about it, because a, i got it for next to nothing and b, im not all that worried, as my last phone was a 3315, and this is a big step up from that.

so yeah. any help would be appreciated

i dont suppose that anyone has a spare usb cable for the v600 then.
all i got was the phone and the charger. im in perth if you can help.

anyone know where to get a cable on the cheap? ie without paying $50 for one cable. (Uni budget)
