VIA P4M266

The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 is the first integrated core logic solution for the Intel Pentium 4 processor platform. Harnessing the industry-leading performance of DDR (Double Data Rate) SDRAM, the flexibility of VIA Modular Architecture Platform (V-MAP) design, and the rich graphics performance of the enhanced S3 Graphics ProSavage8™ 2D/3D engine, the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 reduces system cost while delivering unprecedented performance and stability.

The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 with a 400MHz Front Side Bus, the high performance DDR 200/266 memory controller from the VIA Apollo P4X266, and the superb performance of the enhanced S3 Graphics ProSavage8™ core yields an unbeatable mix of power, flexibility and value. Supporting enhanced 128-bit 3D and 2D engines, effective AGP 8X equivalent internal bandwidth throughput through 128-bit data paths, 32MB of Frame Buffer capability and DVD DXVA Motion Compensation for smooth DVD playback, the integrated S3 Graphics ProSavage8™ core provides class leading 2D,3D, video quality and performance. Flexibility is enhanced by an optional external AGP slot to enable future upgrades if required.

Supporting up to 4.0GB of DDR memory, the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 leverages the power of the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor to full effect, enabling outstanding multitasking capabilities. The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 allows corporate and consumer customers to fully exploit Microsoft Windows® XP and Office XP applications, and provides significant headroom for the next generation of software applications and Internet technologies. On industry standard benchmarks such as 3D Winmark, the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 enables performance gains of up to 100% when compared with integrated systems based on the Intel Pentium® III processor, the previous standard for mainstream desktop computing.

The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 also boasts the latest South Bridge technology with first to market innovations like integrated 3Com® networking in the VT8233C and the introduction of Ultra ATA-133 in the VT8233A. Ultra ATA-133, offering 33% more bandwidth between hard drive and CPU, enables the VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 to deliver more performance in data intensive applications like business productivity software than rival mainstream desktop platforms. In addition to these performance features the P4M266 features integrated AC'97 audio, MC'97 modem support, 6 USB ports, and Advanced Power Management.

The VIA ProSavageDDR P4M266 also has an external AGP port for graphics upgrades and supports PC133 SDRAM to provide the scalability that OEMs and System Integrators need to build systems spanning a complete spectrum of price points using a single platform.
