DO any of you use a pda for network management? If so, post your favourite tools. I'll start with a couple.
Internet Explorer: for all web enabled network management! Terminal Services Client VNC Client VxUtil (Ip connectivity stuff) I am personally really looking for something to reset account lockouts, change passwords, manage groups and other active directory stuff. Also hoping someone can tell me why i can't open a file directly off a server share - i have to download it somewhere then open it...grrrrr.

I can't seem to get VNC viewer working. The PC has TightVNC server, but when I try to connect, all that happens is the viewer runs in the background.
edit: fixed by using RealVNC 4.1.1 in 3.3 legacy mode. Last edited by Ambush; 10th August 2005 at 3:41 AM. |

I haven't had a good look for any active directory clients to run off PDA's.. I'd imagine it would take some setting up.
If all else fails perhaps the next best option would be to run a little box somewhere with all the required services running.. just vnc into that from your PDA.. but yeah, isn't quite like having native support for such things. //hakes

I've used my Dell Axim x50v to remote desktop via wireless. Being able to reset passwords whilst standing in the middle of a classroom is extremely handy
And equally impressive for the nerdy kids ![]() Most time consuming thing is having to type in the username/password when connecting via Remote desktop. Don't seem to be able to save user/pass details like you can with the desktop client. |
