Default Installing Karajan audio on DFI Lanparty Ultra-D [pic]

I got my DFI board today, but I've run into a problem trying to install the Karajan audio module. The little white module has 2 plugs that push through the motherboard to secure it in place. When I try to install this white module, the plugs don't reach the holes properly because the side of the module is pushing up against a capacitor. If I try to push it in, it starts to push the capacitor to the side, but I stopped there in case I snapped the capacitor off. In the pdf manual, there's no capacitor in that position.

Has anyone else run into this? There's so many DFI owners here, I'm sure someone must have Will the capacitor withstand the pressure, or do I do something else?

Mine fitted in just fine, it is extremely close to the cap you point out, but it isn't bending it or anything. Maybe your white plasticcy thing is a bit fubar?

yeah, mine was pressing a bit against that capacitor too.. my situation was worse because after i had installed the module i had to change that pink jumper to select nvidia spdif out.

so FYI: if you plan to use nvidia sound drivers and use spdif out change the jumper position before installing the karajan module

Well I just went ahead and pushed the white module in. It went through ok, and is pressing against the cap but it's not too bad. I don't think there's any chance of snapping it.

My stock AMD heatsink is only doing about 800rpm - is that normal?

For the fan you'll have to change the settings under "pc health" in bios as to when it comes to full speed at what temperature.

Also about that white plastic thing, i just pulled mine off and installed it fine. what exactly is the point of it?

What should I set it to?

I think it's just to give the IO ports a bit of support, it's obviously not crucial.

Fair enough,

i've put all my temps right down to 25 so all my fans are full speed all the time.

I dont mind a bit of noise as long as everything stays nice and cool

It's also the fact that the SB Audigy supports EAX properly in games, whereas I doubt the Karajan audio does. So if you're a gamer I would strongly suggest a dedicated Audigy card of some kind if you want to use EAX.

My white thingy's were a little bent up when my Ultra D mobo arrived.

To install the Karajan module I slipped it into the plastic thingy and gently persuaded (ie/ near bashed the fuck out of.....) the clip but finally found the holes and secured it.

The white plastic guard is dead set near pushed right up against that capacitor on mine.

X-Fi sounds promising indeed. Of course creative will hype it up, but no doubt games developers will also develop games with added features for X-Fi, so it's worth being on board that train.
